I'm no connoisseur but to me this is such delicious coffee. It is one of the few places in the US that I personally can drink the coffee black, so drinkable it needs nothing added.
They know a lot about coffee so it's a fun treat, though rather pricey. They have a couple fun lattes as well, very pretty and tasty.

This coffee shop is in a very convenient location and it is usually possible to find a parking spot within a short walk of the place. The coffee is very good, though we have had a few cups that were really not very good at all. It can be a bit variable, and it doesn't seem to be down to a specific barista or specific type of drink. 2 identical drinks bought at the same time can be really different in taste, with one being perfect and the other being quite unpleasant. Usually the drinks are good though, and good enough that it makes it worth that gamble of getting an occasional cup which you won't end up drinking. I particularly like sitting in the big open window seating area.

Enjoyed a great iced vanilla latte and chocolate croissant. Loved the friendly beach vibe.

My favorite coffee in San Diego so far. I always go for the latte but I've tried the drips and some seasonal specialties. All good. Seating can be tight if you need a table but there's always space on the bench overlooking the street. Highly recommend.

Iv’e been going to this location since they opened around 2008
I have never been around a bad batch of employees at this place UNTIL NOW

Extremely slow, untrained and RUDE

One of them trapped my car in the back of the building because she said it was employee parking only.

My first time ever parking back there, i had to get into my car from the passenger side

She then lied and said she doesn't know who the car belongs too. (Gold Jeep Cherokee)

5 min later she was in the drivers seat on her phone

One of my favorite coffee places whenever I'm in San Diego. These guys are passionate about their coffee. Friendly staff, casual relaxed atmosphere and great coffee. It's nice to sit on the bench and catch up with your friends or people watch on a sunny day (which is like every day in San Diego). Get their pour-over or cortado! The only complaint I have is limited seats available.

Dude-brah, this coffee shop by the ocean is bodacious. In the heart of the quieter surf town of Bird Rock is this awesome coffee joint. The espresso is made with a high level of attention to detail and the cold brew is perfect for a hot day out on the beach. The pastry selection isn’t huge, but it is fairly extensive as well. On nice days, which is nearly every day here, the big doors are opened up for fresh air and sun and there are even window sill benches to sit on. Beans are roasted on site as well in the back, explaining the tasty fresh note to the coffee. The vibe here is much more relaxed than the more fast paced La Jolla.

SD Bird Rock Coffee Roasters sets the coffee standards here in San Diego! Love the atmosphere and place. The Bird Rock Community is great! a lot of nice locals shops and plenty of restaurants to try. I personally haven't been to any restaurants but I make the drive to La Jolla just for the Coffee! One of my favorite signature coffee is the Cortado and Mocha! My friends recommends "Trophy Wife" macadamia nut latte! Enjoy!

A little over priced (but that's third wave coffee for ya). However, I thoroughly enjoyed the espresso! I splurged for one of their Geisha pourovers. It was also tasty, however a little too light for me (usually coffee shops use a lower coffee:water ratio than I prefer. Very chic area as well.

Ok. Hands down best espresso ANYWHERE. The pourovers awesome, the single source coffees inspirational. The knowledge of coffee brilliant (if you choose to learn, they will converse with you) My 20 something son is a LA coffee aficionado, and he always goes to Bird Rock (he's a native) to imbibe.
Brilliant concept that delivers. Im particularly impressed by their Dirty Chai.
Bravo!!!
