Never been in before and needed coffee omw to work. Stopped in to grab some and a quick bite to eat. Menu very poor and they did not start making what I did order until after I already had my late. I’m still here waiting and my food is not even in the toaster yet. Definitely never coming back if the service is gonna be so poor and slow.

A thoroughly enjoyable cold brew, some well balanced lavender lemonade (not overpowering), and jammy toast for my 7yo, which was quality and well enjoyed.

Nice place in a cozy location that had a history of housing cafes that I have liked over the years. I'm not a big espresso guy, but when I do have them, I make sure they come from here.

They shifted from Intelligentsia coffee beans to the new bean-de'jure, Kin Kin, which I think has a slightly less extreme flavor and very full texture. On the other side of the flavor spectrum is thier chai which is probably the best chai I have had in this town (best overall chai goes to a little place in Lake Geneva).

Cortado is also nice here. Simplicity in a glass. The occasional use of glassware over ceramic is one of my few complaints, and is just a matter of personal aesthetics. Despite its distance from the campus, there is a steady college crowd that is more than happy to make the trek here for the atmosphere and generally agreeable, chill music selection. If you are not a fresh-faced college student, don't worry, that crowd is plenty varied.

The best cappuccino in all of Madison. the lavender and mint puts it levels above the rest. And do not sleep on the peanut butter toast with blackberries drizzled with honey!!! Love love love show your love.

The food is very tasty. Decent portion sizes. Nice environment. Moderate prices. Give the Johnson Public House a try 🤗. I would've given this place 5 stars, but I feel I need to go to this place a bit more to give out 5 stars.

Used to be Company of Theives back in 2005. I've been a customer of JPH since 2011 when they took over. The baristas seem happy to explain the types of coffee they offer. Cozy atmosphere. Will be returning in Aug. 2018 when I vacation with my family.

I love Johnson Public House (usually called JPH), it gets relatively busy but it's a great place. Mostly graduate students come here, I'm an undergrad but I like the scene anyways. The food is surprisingly good also, my favorite is the roast beef sandwich, the kitchen is miniscule but they make do. I recommend it to anyone who comes to Madison, plus you can try the pizza place - Salvatore's (best in Madison, easily). Order pizza ahead of time, it will be busy in Sal's but JPH has an agreement with them and you can eat it here! Just make sure to buy a coffee as well.

This place has seriously gone downhill since they started serving out of the cart. If it's as much of an inconvinence as you make it seem to serve your in-person customers, perhaps you should consider switching to solely online ordering.

Great coffee. The barista's are always knowledgeable about the coffees they have. Tasty pour-overs and lattes. Great food, too. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Expertly prepared pourover coffee and espresso from extremely knowledgeable staff. Excellent coffee from Kin Kin. Prices are a bit extreme. Always great art on the walls
