The French Press

Locally owned and operated, serving fresh ingredients sourced as close to Eau Claire as possible, The French Press is a little known gem in our city. The interior of the restaurant is on the cozy side although the table spacing is adequate for private conversation. The staff is superb, service is efficient, and it is a very family friendly atmosphere. Parking can be difficult during peak dining hours, but is well worth it!

We are from Texas and stopped in to have breakfast on our trip thru Wisconsin. BEST breakfast so far anywhere!!! Great prices too! Bkfst for two was $20 including drinks and I am gluten free too! Great gluten free options. We also got 6 pastry items to go for around $8. Shout out to Lauren who took care of us and even took a pic with us! Great people great place, love the atmosphere...give it a try you won't be sorry!

I'm disappointed today in The French Press. I was looking forward to eating breakfast with my husband this morning. Both our toasted bread were served cold as well as my potatoes-which I paid extra. I asked for a refund for my cold potatoes and ate the rest. The person reimbursing me made me feel like I was wrong. But I know what cold potatoes are....

For a place called French Press I expected good coffee. My first cup of brewed coffee was very weak, the kind of weak where you can see the bottom of the cup easily through the coffee. Apparently it was a weak brew and the server didn't ask what kind of coffee we wanted.

My second cup was significantly better. It looked and tasted like real coffee.

The food is great- my French Country scramble was delicious, my husband's brisket hash was good too. For two cups of coffee and our two meals it came to $27, which feels like a lot, but it is also a small restaurant that is local, so I am ok with patronizing their restaurant at a slightly higher price.

Have been a great spot in the past, but recently have not been having the best experience with food. Their website says they close at 2:30 but maybe it’s 2 only because of the quality of the food I received? It felt like they rushed making it. I came at 1:15 and ordered the ricotta pancakes and they were very underdone where it was just batter right when I cut into it. Also order the avocado toast which has a hair mashed into the avocado. They did take it back to make it but I asked for it to just be boxed and I would take it home. When I got home they were completely burned. Super disappointed and maybe I came too late thinking they closed at 2:30 instead of 2. The waitress was very nice and accommodating just with the price of what I was paying for , I was hoping for it to be better.

Great food, inventive seasonal coffee, and a cozy atmosphere. The service is splendid. This place isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like the decor and food, then spending a brunch here is nothing short of sensational.

Favs are eggs benny (served only on the weekend) & iced honey lavender latte. My daughter also loves the lemon ricotta pancakes!

It was my time here today and I really liked it. I ordered the stuffed French toast and a molasses cookie and both were amazing. I thought the presentation of the French toast was great. Kind of wish my bacon was a little crispier, but that’s just my preference. The vibe was nice and the bakery is phenomenal with so many great options. Can’t wait to come back!
