Could not ask for a better location! On Lake Superior, a little drive into Ashland , 25 minute drive to Bayfield. Quiet, peaceful and a fantastic view of the Lake, sunset and sunrise !
The rooms are Hugh and I love the decor!
Thank you for a fantastic weekend Blue Wave !

Absolutely amazing! Were here a whole week, beautiful sunset views over the bay, well-appointed rooms, excellent service from friendly and eager hosts, with a fabulous restaurant as well! Will be back, for sure! Your trip to this part of Lake Superior starts and ends here!

Homer made a tasty Chicken Salad sandwich. Great spot to stop with a dog, there is a fountain outside for quenching a thirsty snout. Get the raspberry lemonade for yourself!

Since July 2018 - I've visited The Sandbar Restaurant 3 times. In July 2018 - the service was slow but decent and the fish tacos were great. In September 2018 - I ordered take out - the service was decent at best and the appearance of the food was disappointing. My last and final visit was on 10/18/18 - our group was disappointed to learn that "fresh whitefish season ended 10/1/18 and the frozen whitefish were not meeting their standards," they were out of two different drinks we ordered, and that it took over 40 minutes to get our food. The waiter was nice and meant well. I'll blame his waitressing skills on lack of training and/or being overwhelmed. I was unable to inform him that I had found a hair in my food because he never came to check on us and see how we were doing. Overall - the meal felt overpriced for the lack of options and service we received. The Sandbar has fallen way below our expectations which is unfortunate.

We stayed in the cheapest room, number 5, the Captain's Quarters. This is a good room, with lots of space. The only problem is that you only have smaller window views of the lake, hence the lower price. I would suggest getting the higher prices rooms, if you can afford it. Not because my room was inadequate, but because the views from those rooms is so much better! They have larger windows and balconys.
This is a unique hotel, with all five rooms on the third floor. Make sure you are paying attention, as it does not look like a hotel, and we actually passed it by. The second floor with a beautiful view appears to be a room for meetings. The first floor is a restaurant and outfitters/rental place. You can rent kayaks, etc. right off the small beach to the southern? part of the building. Farther up the road (next to) the building is another, bigger beach you can easily walk to.
The only complaint I had was I could not get on the internet, as how to wasn't posted in the information book we had. They assured me that would be fixed, so this shouldn't be a problem in the future. This is the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars.
I would highly recommend this unique establishment. It is a little pricey, but the views are fantastic! It is convenient to the road and Lake Superior, and relatively close to Bayfield. The Great Lakes Visitor Center is about a mile away (use Google maps to find it), which is also unique and should be visited, if it is not closed due to Corona.

So relaxing! Everything was clean, easy to check in/out. Perfect spot next to the lake and trails. Also close to stores in case you need something.

We had an amazing stay at the Blue Wave Inn! We got upgraded to the Flowing Rivers room and it was beautiful! It really got our waters flowing. Everyone was so friendly and the food at the Sandbar restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend this unique slice of heavenly.

Food is prepared in an open kitchen. Restaurant has an open concept. Big bay windows open to the Chequamegon Bay. Sandbar has the best view of any restaurant around. If you want only coffee and pastry, that is fine with them. If you want a full-blown breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they have it and the food is good. All the staff I have met from servers to chefs have been great. College students serve. Chefs are true professionals.

Great cappuccino on the shores of Lake Superior!
Glad to have this shop in town - plus, it's connected to Solstice Outdoors so you can get some high-quality outdoor shopping done at the same time.
They also have great summer mixed drinks!
