Very unique inn with 5 rooms decorated as sailors quarters. Has a bar with snacks and small bites with signature drinks. We enjoyed our stay and will be back. Very affordable inn right on Lake Superior.

Amazing stay!! My husband and I even extended our stay to an extra night we loved it so much. We stayed in room #3 Flowing Waters. Our room had everything you could ask for and more. Very comfy bed as well. Will definitely be back!

Was driving home in a blizzard and had to stop for the night. John at the desk was so friendly and went above and beyond with helping me. The room is so cute and the whole hotel has a beachy, vacationing vibe and I love it!! Will definitely be coming back, hopefully under different circumstances!!

I booked Room 2 here last minute for a relaxing solo getaway where I planned to read on the balcony and enjoy the sun and listen to the waves. You can imagine my massive disappointment when I got to Ashland and saw that Lake Superior is still FROZEN here! It's all open water in Duluth and along the north shore. I wish I would have known this before hand, I wouldn't have driven 3 hours and paid 300 dollars.
However, the room was really nice. The bed was soft and comfortable. The chairs were squishy. The warm lighting was wonderful, (no ugly fluorescent bulbs!) The massive shower with 2 different shower head styles was pretty cool (I only used one at a time so not to waste water), and when the annoying person on the 4 wheeler riding on the Lake for hours each day wasn't around, it was nice and peaceful sitting on the balcony. I could hear doors slamming but no tvs or talking from other rooms so that was really nice. The mini fridge was nice to have and I love the tiny wet bar sink! If you need a microwave there's one in the hallway. I get up early so the light window covers didn't bother me but if you need dark curtains room 2 is not for you.
A few gripes-the slow elevator-I'd have to press the code more than once every time so I found the stairs and used them when my hands were free (you have to unlock a door on the 2nd floor with a key). The cheap soap was gritty and left a residue on the shower shelf- hate to know what's on my skin! Shampoo and conditioner same brand and no good. Coffees were also cheap brands from Amazon and Menards. For the price of the room I'd expect a little better quality. It's also weird never seeing anyone, being checked in and given info via email loses the personal touch. No one to ask how your stay was when checking out seems strange as well. Also, no hook to hang clothes or even a shelf inside the bathroom.
I'd like to come back with my husband and stay in the summer. The view would be great when the water isn't frozen and dirty. Nice firepit area outside as well (didn't use). This Inn is a little over a mile away from the downtown shopping area so there's nothing around it except a good diner across the street. There is a trail along the shore that would probably be nice in the summer!

We just stay one night in what I would say is a first class hotel. It's winter the wind chill was 15 below and we enjoyed every second we where there.Beautiful rooms and fantastic views with the warmth of a fireplace and the coziness of the decor it was a treat. I hope to return soon.

I live in Ashland. This is my circle of friends place to meet.
I can tell you I have toured all the rooms. They are beautiful, amazing. They hang over the water, except to the room located on the red far East.
The food is limited, paninis, bakery goods, sandwiches, etc.
Huge windows overlooking the lake. Outdoor casual eating as well.

Just got back from spending three nights at the Blue Wave Inn (Flowing Waters #3). The sunsets from our private balcony were amazing. If you are sitting inside the room, it feels like you are on a cruise ship. Location is close to everything. Cute unique place. Room was clean, well stocked, comfortable beds and quiet. Lots of windows facing the lake, so if you like to sleep in, I would suggest a sleeping mask, because the shades are not room darkening. We had breakfast sandwiches from the Sandbar and they also get a five star. Friendly, younger staff. I hope we are able to come back and try out one of the other rooms.

We spent 2 nights at the Blue Wave Inn in June 2022. It was great! The views were amazing. Loved having our own balcony. Peace, quiet, very private - never heard any other guests through the walls. It was exceptionally clean and well stocked. The sunsets were beautiful.
It was so quiet that when the AC shut off, it was "eerily quiet!" (pro-tip - always bring a sound machine on vacation!). The only very minor improvement would be to make the worlds-slowest & tiniest elevator faster, (LOL) -- But these are small things. Would 100% recommend.

We only got coffee but loved the atmosphere and "vibe".

The location of this INN is awesome. An amazing view of lake superior. The rooms are definitely a huge highlight. The showers are also amazing
The service is very odd, as in they have weird times when they're there. but they're on top of it as fast as they can be and responsive. Seems like it's ran by just 2 or 3 people but it feels like they pour there hearts towards the business.
Definitely will stay again if I find my self in this neck of the woods.
