Everything. Location of Inn. They have fire pits outside, kayak rental and bike rentals. Close to Bayfield and in the quaint town of ASHLAND, WI. THE ROOMS AT THE BLUE WAVE were the nicest we have ever stayed in. Beds are firm and comfy, large updated shower, extremely clean and a balcony with view of the bay. Very quiet and relaxing. Has small restaurant and store. Very friendly. Food is great. We were in #4 and we had a fireplace in our room also. Can’t wait for August and thank you. Something special to look forward too. Cyndi

Got off to a bad start, numerous things went wrong. But, they made everything right during my Two days. In fact they bent over backwards to make our stay a good one. The room was fabulous. Second floor with a nice balcony facing lake Superior. Beautiful views. The place was clean and the manager was professional. Nice couple of shops in the hotel. Cool walk way along the lake. Restaurant in the building plus two more across the street. Bad start turned into a pleasant stay. No doubt I will return

Room was so comfortable. We had ordered the charcuterie board and after a day of driving and sight seeing it was a perfect way to end the day.

This place is truly something unique and special...I've never stayed anywhere quite like it! My fiancé and I stayed in room 5- which, as other reviewers have mentioned, is the smallest out of the 5 rooms. However, it wasn't small by any means and had plenty of space for two people- and we still had a view of the lake. And, it had a rain showerhead- which was a treat for sure! My only tip for future travelers would be that the sun can be quite bright in the mornings since the curtains are not blackout curtains- so, if that bothers you, try bringing a sleeping mask.
The rest of property is beautiful as well. We enjoyed spending time in the on-site café and bar. I had to work for part of the trip, so I cared about the quality of the WIFI (which worked perfectly well). The café has gorgeous views, good food, and great drinks- so it was an excellent place to work for a day.
Finally, it's worth mentioning that the on-site store has equipment rentals if you want to bike, kayak, etc. There's a lakeside trail on the backside of the property and plenty of restaurants/stores within walking/driving distance.
Overall, we had a great trip and I can't recommend this place enough.

The review is for the restaurant. I almost gave them 3 stars, but decided to be generous. The interior and overall airiness are nice and the lake views and live music only add to the experience.
The steak however was ordered rare and came out hot in the middle and well done. I’d have loved to send it back, but we didn’t see the server again after the food was delivered until they brought the check. We came in early around 4:30 and were really the only customers. One refill of Diet Coke never came back either. Overall, the steak was disappointing but I did enjoy the potatoes, vegetables and gravy.

Nice hotel but traffic noise is a dealbreaker. I really wanted to like this hotel but normal traffic on Hwy 2 is clearly audible from the rooms. Every car that goes by can be heard. And that’s the normal cars..,when the hillbilly pickups and motorcycles go by with their straight pipes it gets really loud. This would be a great hotel if it was off the beaten path. A word about the rooms too - We got the larger room with the intent of having our adult daughter sleep on one of the “additional” beds. However the additional beds are murphy beds and the mattresses are substandard and not fit for an adult. She ended up on the couch. We could have probably gotten by with a cheaper room had we known this. We won’t stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights in room #3. The place is under new management as of May 2018 and the kitchen opened in July 2018. The amenities at this place were spectacular! We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and the views overlooking the bay out onto Lake Superior. The whole unit was glass and faced the water; we watched the sunsets and sunrises from here, absolutely stunning! The food at the local eatery on the ground floor was spectacular. We went downstairs to order breakfast twice and dinner once during our stay, each time asking them to bring our order up to our room. We were able to take a nice walk to the beach each evening and get artesian water that flowed just a few hundred feet away. The Mexican eatery is delicious across the street, even though it looks a bit run down from the outside. Rent bikes, kayaks, and canoes right downstairs. Only minor nuisance is an extremely slow elevator to the third floor.

My wife and I recently had a wonderful 3 night stay. Great base for exploring the northwoods.
We arrived after 6PM so check-in was unique to me and I neglected to read the hotel email thoroughly. Read it all the way to the end, where you'll find a clear check-in flow and the code for the lift. No one there to greet us, but it wasn't a big deal. Slow elevator, maybe the slowest ever. But we got a good laugh and weren't feeling rushed. Pro tip...your key ring has two keys. One for your room, the other for the door on the right at the top of the stairs in the mid-section of the building which allows you to bypass said elevator!!
The views from our room were amazing, room was very clean and comfortable. If we had a suggestion, it would be to service the hot tub in room 3. the jets didn't have the force we are used to experiencing and after a long day of snowshoeing ...oh well, if that was our only 'thing', I've got no complaints. Ashland is a lovely community.

Absolutely charming place. Stayed in the ‘captain’s quarters’ - super clean & cozy, and filled with nice touches like the king bed, huge shower, and somewhat kitschy but undoubtedly delightful nautical decor. Spent a night here passing through Ashland and it made me want to return just to relax a few more nights at the Blue Wave Inn.

Unique architectural building and breathtaking views of Chequamegon Bay if Lake Superior. Boutique rooms which are all unique at the top of the inn. The Sandbar is the perfect breakfast and lunch spot. Outside seating along the beach. Enjoy
