Sandy Pony Donuts & Açaí Bowls

We were in Chincoteague for a short holiday and various online guides raved about Sandy Pony Donuts. So I decided to get some donuts and a couple of smoothies one morning. The line was very long at 9 am and that gave me a little sense of hope that this place would live up to all the hype. I ordered half a dozen donuts of different varieties and one gluten free donut as well as two smoothies. There isn't a place to sit and eat so I brought it back to our rental and we ate it. While we had ordered several different flavors (lemon, chocolate, CowTail etc) the overwhelming taste was simply sugar and a cloying sweetness at that. The kids liked it which is why I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1. The same was true for the smoothies---just extreme sweetness and hardly any actual flavor. It was disappointing.

The line was long and the weather was hot so there wasn't time to linger (the poor staff looked like they were baking inside the little kitchen). So we left as soon as we got our order. Coming home I realized I had probably been overcharged ($24 for half a dozen donuts and 2 smoothies; the half dozen box actually only had 5 donuts in it). It is likely an honest mistake but it only added to the perception of an over-hyped and underwhelming experience.

The donuts are always delicious, but the bubble tea was not made correctly. The bubbles were hard and doughy in the center as if they had been undercooked or left to sit overnight.

Iced coffee and iced lemonade were amazing! The donuts weren't the best, I guess I'm too use to Krispy Kreme! I'm so glad they had inside dinning.

Worth the wait. All donuts are made fresh to order instead of being premade before hand and handed out. Having fresh sugary donuts first thing in the morning made me feel like a child again. There was a decent wait to order and get our food but the wait was well worth the wait.

Doughnuts were delicious. Even the next day they were still good. Highly recommend the bacon ones and the banana with Oreo dusting ones. I would definitely come back. The taro bubble tea was decent too.

You know there are some places that get great reviews best whatever and they aren't what the ratings say. This isn't one of them. I came in at 8 and walked out with hot fresh doughnuts. They are derishious!!decisions!!! Worth any wait!

I'm not sure if the salt air makes their donuts taste better, but we thought we'd died and gone to heaven. What more can be said but Sandy Pony has the. best. donuts. ever. Oh, I know! They have a GLUTEN FREE option! Yup, my GF wife was grousing about how the rest of us could "go ahead and enjoy your donuts..." when I noticed the gluten-free option on the menu. Yeah, that made her day! Absolutely, positively delicious. And, judging from the fact that we had to stand in huge line on a cold and rainy morning, we're not the only ones to discover how good they are.

This was My 1st Time & It was Well Worth it ;) Fresh is Best, But I Even Took a Dozen Home ;) Good Stuff!

Best donuts I have ever had. We come to Chincoteague every year and these delicious donuts! Worth mentioning, I am not a donut lover. I actually don't like them (DD, KRISPIE CREME, DUCK DONUTS, ETC) but PONY DONUTS are different and absolutely scrumptious! We have yet to try their acai bowls/shakes, plan to do so soon!
