Sandy Pony Donuts & Açaí Bowls

The best donuts around! Worth the wait if there's a line as it moves quickly. We went our first morning in Chincoteague and kept going back each day after. We tried many of the donuts and to say they were delicious is an understatement! Warm donuts and cold acai bowls for the beach made for a perfect morning :) Highly Recommend!

There was a line when we stopped here in the morning and I could see why…the donuts were fantastic! The donuts come in a large array of flavors and are warm, gooey, and delicious. The coffee and chai tea drinks we ordered with the donuts were nice as well. The staff were amazing and the line moved fast so if you see a crowd don’t let it stop you from experiencing the delicious of what the Sandy Pony has to offer!

A Chincoteague staple!!!

We were so glad that Sandy Pony has really taken off since the last time we had them a few years ago! We made sure to hit them up and get some donuts before our one person left early.
There was some discussion/disagreement, but 4 out of 5 of us think that sandy pony is better than duck donuts! The donuts are bigger, the toppings are more part of the donuts, the glazes are thinner and are less icing like, and we really enjoy the combos available.

We made sure to get a shirt and try a couple smoothies as well this year. The smoothies were very sweet but tasty. Might grab a few before we leave!

Best doughnuts ever!!! We tried almost every flavor. We kept coming back day after day. Year after year. Just as good as the first time. They always come out hot and fresh. Melt in your mouth. Everyone in the family agrees. Best they've ever had.

We got donuts and açaí bowls which we both delicious. The donuts were still hot when we got them and they were awesome. The açaí bowls tasted great too and they were perfect to take to the beach.

They take credit and the line moved quick. Now let's talk about the donuts! They were delicious. We got a dozen for the 4 of us and finished all but 3. They look smaller but are decently dense and filling. The kids devoured the sprinkles, fruity pebbles, and thin mint ones. I loved the bacon covered donut, it had an awesome balance of sweet and salt. The lemon donuts were good.

What a sweet treat. The donuts are made fresh as you order. So many different flavors appealing to adults and kids. They even have gluten free pastries. Expect to have a a lil wait.

Sandy Pony Doughnuts has a wide variety of doughnuts to make everyone happy. I am impressed the doughnuts are freshly made to order. The doughnuts are like fried dough with glazes and toppings, not your typical premade, frosted ones. I also enjoyed an acai bowl, but was disappointed by the limited toppings included.

If you're thinking about stopping here while you're on the island - do it! This place has some of the best donuts I've ever had! My boyfriend and I stopped here to get some breakfast before taking a nice walk on the beach. I got a salted caramel with a chai tea latte and my boyfriend got the mud pie. We loved it here. We will definitely try more flavors when we come back to visit Chincoteague!

I'm eating these for the first time today, as I write this review. In front of me, six donuts all having one thing in common. They taste like fried dough, a bit under cooked maybe, and little else. Blueberry glaze, banana glaze, honey glaze, lemon glaze? I couldn't tell them apart. The only one with any flavor was the one covered in chocolate chips, slightly melty from the fresh cooked ring of dough. However even melted chocolate could not overcome the flavor of fry oil.

I write this with a heavy heart as I REALLY wanted these to be spectacular. The idea of fresh cooked made to order donut is very enticing. They look absolutely beautiful, but after eating 6 half donuts I'm mostly filled with regret and disappointment. The flavor you expect from the descriptions and beauty of the donuts was not there, usurped by the ever persistent flavor of oil.
