We have been coming here for our anniversary for six years. It is always a delight. The innkeepers, Barbara and David, are always top-notch. In spite of obstacles--and the Covid19 pandemic--is only one of them, they NEVER lower their high standards. The afternoon tea is totally amazing as well! Highly recommended

The experience of staying for three nights at the Channel Bass Inn was exactly what we needed for the week. There were no TVs or distractions in the rooms, and it gave the unique experience of feeling like you’re staying in a local historic landmark but also having the familiar comfortability of staying with your grandmother (this is not a comment on Barbara and David - they are much more like a loving, feisty aunt & uncle than grandparents). The furniture and decor was pretty antique and reminded me a lot of my great aunt and uncle’s house that we used to visit when I was younger.

We were spoiled every morning with breakfast. Barbara, David, and their staff cooked us up something unique and delicious each morning and that was arguably the best part of the entire stay. And breakfast wasn’t only a quick eat and run - each meal was followed by some delightful conversation with our hosts which normally went on for another hour or so after we were finished eating. They’re the type of people who are so interesting and engaging that even small talk over breakfast quickly turns into a deep and thoughtful conversation (especially after Barbara casually mentions how many countries she’s lived in and how many languages she speaks).

If you have time, joining for tea is a must. They had joked that morning that if we were joining for tea (which started at 3:30pm) that we shouldn’t eat anything between breakfast and then - and they weren’t kidding. Tea is a four course ordeal - and I mean ordeal in the best possible way; it's an ordeal trying to will yourself through eating course after course of delicious treats. We had finger sandwiches, scones (which I have to agree with the previous review on - probably the best scones of my life), strawberry cake & german apfelkuchen, and cookies. We had to give up after the first three courses and took our cookies with us to enjoy as a treat later.

Thursday morning we were sad to say goodbye to Barbara and David. The stay there was exactly what we had needed - rather than feeling exhausted at the end of a vacation as people often do, we left feeling relaxed and refreshed and excited to head off on an adventure to Ukraine. Staying at the Channel Bass Inn was like spending a few days relaxing and enjoying time with extended family (the kind you like) and I would do it again a heartbeat.

There arent even words for how lovely Barbara and David are. They were unfailingly hospitable, kind, and generous. When we got there, Mrs. Barbara knew us by name, and set us up for the most impeccable afternoon tea I could ever even imagine. The tea was 4 courses with the most moist, scrumptious scones ever. If there was a button to give them 20 stars, I would. Mrs Barbara is very maternal and always takes great care of you, including making your reservations for you, and telling you which places have good food and bad food. The house itself is very homey, beautiful, well furnished, and always smells like something sweet because Mrs Barbara is always baking. Mrs Barbara goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable and well fed. She truly goes above and beyond. If you like to get up early and have a cup of coffee, she will be there before you with your coffee in hand. She always remembers your preferences, whether you like spicy food or you prefer tea to coffee. She tells you the proper way to eat your scones without reprimanding you. Mrs Barbara projects a family kind of warmth. A wonderful woman with a wonderful Inn. P.s. dont skip tea time and definitely ask for the Apfelkuchen!

My husband and I stayed here for Pony Penning Week and had a wonderful experience all around. If you're looking for a welcoming environment, warm and friendly hosts (thanks David and Barbara) and great value, this is the place for you. It was great to be able to experience Chincoteague and Pony Penning Week and have a nice cozy place to come back to throughout the day. Made our trip all the more special!

We had an amazingly delicious breakfast at Channel Bass Inn Bed & Breakfast this morning:

Fresh French press coffee
Watermelon with lime zest
Peach scone with butter, blueberry jam & clotted cream
Bananas foster French toast with sausage

Time for a nap 😴

My mother-in-law and I have made a point to have tea here at least once a year. The sandwiches, scones, desserts and tea are wonderful! We also love sitting in the little garden behind the B&B. Highly recommend a visit if you are in town!

We went for tea on Saturday, and it was delightful. Come hungry! The scones were the best I have ever had, and there is not enough space in your stomach for all of the wonderful food Barbara sets out for you.

This is the fourth time my family has visited the inn. Barbara and David are wonderful hosts. From the wonderful breakfasts to the beautiful accommodations and grounds, the Channel Bass Inn makes for a memorable Chincoteague vacation experience.

Wonderful and quaint hotel!
The owner and his wife are chefs and they make the breakfast in the morning which is sensational!
We are definitely staying here again when we come back to Chincoteague!
