Coffee in a tree house style surrounding, who can complain? Staff is friendly, widest selection I have seen in an average coffee shop for both food or drinks. They have smoothies, kombuchas, etc. if you're not huge on coffee but want to stop by with a friend. They always have bagels from a local bagel shop as well as plenty of baked goods, fruit parfaits, soups, and more. My *only* complaint would be that they are rather slow even when not busy, so be mindful of your time if you're in a rush (but it is worth the wait!)
*Note they are selective about when they allow laptops to respect other patrons' opportunity to enjoy their business as well.
On two separate occasions, different colleagues asked to meet here. Both times the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. The second time, we moved seats twice and nowhere worked. I finally got up & asked for the music to be turned down a bit, got a look from the too-cool server who said yes, turned it down, then turned it right back up as soon as I walked away. Any time anyone wants to meet here I say no & suggest other spots in & around downtown. I’m not going to shout at my colleagues just to be heard.
We loved this coffee shop! The iced lattes we ordered tasted so good! My husband got while milk and I got oat milk and we were both very happy with our choices in comparison to other coffee we tried in the area. The atmosphere is eclectic and a bit small but worth stopping in for the coffee at least!
I had to write a review of this place- its that good. During my recent trip to Vermont I have been to a number of coffee shops. Heck, I love a good coffee shop hoping for a barista, which is like finding a unicorn these days. I’ve been to a lot of coffee shops in a lot of places, but I can say that was the best breve I’ve ever tasted. Went back the next day.. another perfect breve- consistently the best crafted breve I’ve seen or tasted.
There are a lot of coffee shops around Burlington. This one has the funk, the atmosphere, the baristas, and an excellent menu of drinks. The others I’ve tried (I won’t name them, but also high on the review list on google) were decent, but this is another level. It is not for everyone- thank goodness! Nothing good ever is, but if you enjoy a real crafted beverage, it is worth trying- the atmosphere and seating make the place that much better!
It’s not easy to find a coffee shop serving decaf drinks as good as the caffeinated versions but Muddy Waters does. I could drink the iced decaf americano all day long! Since I only drink decaf, this is my new favorite coffee shop in Burlington. As other people have noted, service is a little slow if you’re in a rush but good things are worth waiting for.
The sign says your open, online says your open, but the rude barista says go away as she cracks jokes about it as we are walking away. Either she was rude and just want to leave early or management is lacking putting their employees out in the dry.
We’ve been coming here since college, so 15 years. Have a lot of great memories of sitting, writing a paper and enjoying a hot mocha. The lack of WiFi was actually a positive for us because then we just focused on reading or writing papers.
The atmosphere was unique. Liked the interesting art choices and decorative finishes. Chai tea was good. Everything bagel with cream cheese was just okay.

Best shake in town "The Muddy Shake". As long as you love coffee 😋
