My wife and I were in Sandy Utah for the weekend and we wanted to have a good, delicious meal and we came across Athena Beans coffee house. Not far from where we were staying so we decided to give it a try. Once we entered we were greeted by the chef, Rene Contreras and the barrista Gilbert, whom were very friendly and made us feel more than welcome the food was very delicious if you come to Sandy Utah and want a good meal we HIGHLY recommend this place

Sunday afternoon...four of us entered the establishment for the first time after church.
We were all anxious for some great coffee and something to eat. We entered and asked how the restaurant operated for ordering. An associate behind the counter continued cleaning a coffee maker and stated the menu was on the wall, make your selection and tell me, I will bring it to your seating area. We found menus to look at, and we approached the counter to place our orders. We were ignored yet someone came through the drive through the associate immediately snapped to attention and spent 6 minutes chatting with the car customer's. We just stood there by the counter while no one approached us for another 5 minutes. As we were deciding to leave, the cook came out from the back and looked embarrassed asking us if we have been helped. We said no, and we were leaving. As we were walking out the front door the associate was talking to a guy that had walked in giving us bizarre ho-hum looks. We will never go back to this establishment.

Picked this place on a whim and its awesome. Staff is super friendly and itβs just a cool environment. Breakfast sandwich is awesome and the Apollo coffee is great if you like chai!

Love coming here! The large meeting room upstairs is really a hidden gem, and something to investigate instead of using a conference room at a hotel. VERY open with tables, chairs, audio/video, and space for roughly 100 people. The food is also great! Fresh made shakes, great sandwiches, and very friendly and helpful service! Drop in, you'll love it!

I go to Athena on Monday nights for open mic and not only is the coffee phenomenal, but the service and hospitality are unmatched! The open mic host Spencer has helped to create an environment that allows artists, comedians, poets, and musicians the opportunity and space to freely work on their creativity and artistic drive. Iβm so grateful for the place and the experiences Iβve had and I will continue to drive 30-40 mins. to be able to be a part of such a special community.
One last thought:
ART SHOULD BEVER BE CENSORED!!! How is someone supposed to censor their brains and their hearts and still expect individual growth to occur? WE SHOULD NEVER STIFLE THE GROWTH OF FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS.
Anyways, I love this coffee shop. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

We got avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich, which tasted fine. Drinks were a drip coffee and cold brew, which tasted fine. The problem was it took +30 minutes to get those items and the prices are a bit ridiculous for the quality. It has the elements to be good but really falls short in the execution

Such a great place! Plenty of seating with a welcome and stimulating atmosphere. Their open mic night on Monday was relaxed but very enjoyable with a sweet little bar upstairs. 10/10 would recommend π

My first time hearing about this place was from a friend who invites me to an open mic on Mondays. Now the coffee is dreamy, the tea is immaculate - but the open mic nights are definitely my favorite thing. If you're looking to safely express yourself amongst the dopest of individuals - this is it. ABC has reawakened my artistic soul, and for that I am forever grateful.

I am not usually getting coffee in this area, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the espresso and the service at Athena in Sandy when I stopped by unexpectedly the other day for my afternoon cup.
I regret not getting the Barista's name as she was charming and made a perfect latte that rivals the best coffee spots in town i.e. Coffee Garden and Rawbean. I am a bit of a coffee purist, definitely an addict, and I try hard not to be snobbish, but I generally cannot tolerate any of the chain places, and only like espresso shots with steamed milk and NO sugar or flavors.
Here the roast was deliciously balanced, a medium acidity, earthy, milk chocolatey, NOT overly fruity flavor. And the barista pulled the shot at perfect strength and steamed my milk at just the right temp in a few quick seconds.
I don't usually want to relax and \or work or visit at a coffee shop, so I prefer a drive-thru service place. But the girl that took care of me went so quickly and was so pleasant I cannot complain at all. And I think I may have seen a drive thru window now that I think back.
If you are in Sandy, and you like quality espresso drinks like me not drowned in syrups you simply are not proximal to any other coffee shop of a similar grade as Athena. There are two other places in Salt Lake that I can trust to give me a consistently good roast and perfectly pulled shot, but Athena thoroughly impressed me, so I will make it a point to drop in again and try their other wares.
