It’s been a while (just over a year) since I had been to Grind, and I was stoked to get one of their breakfast bagel sandwiches and a coffee drink. When I walked in, it appeared very different, with a new menu and staff that were not really knowledgeable on how to a make proper espresso drink. I ordered a dirty chai latte, which came out not hot and somewhat peppermint tasting with chai. It seems like they are in the middle of flipping the place, so I understand that it could be a time where new staff are getting trained… but honestly just sad about the old menu is gone. Whenever I came in, the place was bustling, and this past time it was very quiet. I hope that they can figure out how to make real coffee drinks.

Nice place to study. Lots of tables and space for people to spread out. Outlets available for charging devices. The coffee and food are good. And they are open on Sundays.

I had a latte and I loved that they had unsweetened almond milk. The oatmeal was top notch, and service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

The sweet and spicy sandwich was a very pleasant surprise! Extremely yummy. Haven't stopped thinking about it since. Potato salad, amazing! (Wish they would NOT put it in plastic!) The chi tea was so good with the perfect temperature. Excellent atmosphere! They do free drinks for so many purchases and they don't expire either. Love this place!!!

Hip little college coffee house that surpasses the big star chain coffee depots. Music, charm & areas to read or study. Little distance from i15 but worth seeking out. It’s got that special feel of; wow I discovered a great coffee house I didn’t know existed. If you’re traveling i15, this is a nice out of the way break on your trip.

The coffee shop has a new ownership and it went downhill from there. The entire old staff left which is really unfortunate. It was common for the previous staff to remember your name and what you regular order is. The new staff does seem to change every week and is not interest in any relationship building. In addition, the menu and decor changed quite a bit. They used to have a handwritten board behind the counter with all kinds of interesting drinks. I agree that there were too many choices back then and it needed an update. But those new plastic boards above the counter and the ordinary Starbucks offering are just simply boring. I lost its vibe completely!

The new ownership is doing a lot of needed remodeling. However, the got rid of the previous stage where they plan to grind their own coffee. This is not only going to be loud but just simply unnecessary. It’s not a high quality coffee shop by any means - this is a hangout spot for students, festival visitors and tourists. I would have loved to see more events in that space as they had years ago.

My husband was a daily regular for over 3 years and stopped going. I rarely go myself anymore either. I hope this new ownership changes direction and interacts more with the community again.

Oh, and I forgot: the MUSIC sucks now. It used to be so good now it’s just charts and pop songs. So annoying.

This was my PREVIOUS REVIEW:

That’s THE spot in Cedar City for all your coffee or decaf cravings. The students from the college next door as well as the actors/artistic staff from the festival create such a inviting and homey atmosphere. It feels that you enjoy your time with friends in their great living room. I promise, you’ll have a hard time leaving.

The staff is so friendly and the options are huge. They even have a vegan menu now which I just love! Highly recommend to try that out. Their baked goods and pastries is another thing you shouldn’t miss.

Another not negligible fact: they play awesome music.

I would not recommend this place we ordered 2 drinks and both of them were flavorless and and tasted like milk. When asked to add more flavor we were given attitude.
Would not come back. They used to have good food and drinks but then they got new owners and the quality went down fast

This is my favorite place in cedar city. Foods and drinks taste so good, but also the prices are very reasonable. CHAI TEA latte and MATCHA those are really good!! The space is quite wide enough to stay.

It’s our stop when we come into cedar. Before we head to the mountains for our weekend adventures. The cedar breaks sandwich is a great treat. Great place

Friendly nice staff. Decent food and great drinks. It's wonderful that they are open on a Sunday when many establishments are closed.
