We had a hard time finding a place open for lunch and were happy to find the Chili Pepper Cafe! The servers were friendly and there were lots of bottled drink choices. I really enjoyed the green chili sauce on my Burrito. Very flavorful! The queso is unique and packed with flavor. Highly recommend stopping!

Totally loved the food. If you guys plan for a trip to Big Bend National park you can check for cabins and stays near this restaurant. Near this restaurant you have multiple stay options. This is the only restaurant you can find in the park.

Dropped in for lunch and Ordered fries, vegetable enchiladas and it was very good. Very friendly staffs and cool place. The sauce taste was unique and very good.

Has a good parking lots too.

A strong 3 star experience. The service was excellent. There was one server for the entire restaurant and she cashed everyone out too. Kudos to this girl who worked her butt off and was friendly and efficient. The food is just OK. Not chocked full of flavor but not horribly bland. The tamales were home made and pretty decent though just a tad dry. The salsa was good and so was the wine margarita. The red sauce was lacking and burrito just OK. If you come expecting "pretty OK" then you won't be disappointed. Just do not come expecting to have found some fantastic Mexican gem in the desert.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat on a Monday night in Terlingua, this is probably it. That said, it's not great. It's reasonably decent food, basically on level with what you'd get from a can or out of a package yourself, with completely overwhelmed but reasonably friendly service. And it's probably your only option. We waited 30 minutes but anywhere else was 3 hours + or closed entirely. Don't expect much and you may be pleasantly surprised - they work hard, they really try, and our food tasted pretty alright.

Not impressed with the food here. I would thought they are famous for its chili but the chili dish was the most disappointing one. The sauce is runny and the pork has no flavor. The chili is very blend not hot at all. The nacho is ok, just portion is big but nothing spectacular if you love to have the sour cream and yes it has a lot of that. The queso dip is very watery as well.

Dined in after a brutal 3 day solo camp out where I almost died in Big Bend Ranch State Park. I had the chicken sandwich and small nachos

The Good
There are not many options out here so any restaurant is a welcome sight! Everything is very affordable and the service and staff are very friendly! The fries were surprisingly good and so was the chicken sandwich.

The Bad
I was half dead and well starved from camping when I came in here. In that physical state all food tastes 10x better, but even so the food here was not that good. I have to say this place got a higher rating than usual because of its location. It would be unfair to judge this place based off city standards. The nachos were a total miss. The chips were stale, the beans were dried out, the cheese was dry, the extra chicken fajita was super dry and hard, and some parts of the nachos tasted like perfume so it seems like maybe someone had some scented lotion and it got into my dish. The chicken sandwich was overall decent.

I probably wouldn't return here which pains me to say because I really liked the staff. There was a BBQ place down the street and I should have gone there. I left this place feeling unsatisfied.

Always delicious. If we go into town while we're at the cabin....we eat breakfast here. Good food, generous portions and friendly staff. Prices are reasonable too! My nephew loved it. We'll be back!

We love the Chili Pepper Cafe, eat here at least once a week! Great service, good food, and even as a vegetarian with a gluten intolerance I’ve got plenty of options. One of the only places in town with queso, chalked full of chilies, breakfast lunch and dinner, and lots of cute plants on the patio! Totally no frills and great variety for the area. Love this small business.

Outstanding staff. They are very friendly and treat every customer with the utmost respect. The food is to die for. There is no need to ask what is good on the menu. The best answer to that question is the menu, everything on the menu is great.

You get what you expect, decent quality food at reasonable price. If you tried going to starlight and the line was too long, this place is the exact same thing with even better guac and salsa. Service was good, restaurant was clean and friendly staff.
