Brown Coffee Co - Southtown

Easily the best speciality coffee shop in San Antonio. Fantastic coffee, baristas, and really delicious snacks: muffins, banana bread, etc.

Good seating, good vibes, and the parking is free with validation. 10 out of 10.

Have been here several times. Very mixed service. This last time I had to leave without getting my coffee. Was refused 3 shots, they would only do 2 or 4. But don’t have a cup size that would be a better fit for 4 shots, only 12oz or smaller. And they wouldn’t do half decaf unless it was 2 shots caf and 2 shots decaf. So I literally could not get 12oz, 2 shot, one caf, one decaf. They counter person kept saying we aren’t allowed or my boss doesn’t allow. And yes, I know how coffee shots are pulled. They come out 2 at a time. This hasn’t stopped thousands of baristas from doing coffee with 1 or 3 shots.
I recommend 8 Ball coffee up the street if you want coffee how you like it and not how Brown’s wants you to have it. To end on a better note I will say the pastry, quiche, nosh here is top notch. Which is why I give them a 3 star and not something lower for their crazy behavior.

Very nice place to study. Bright, clean, and welcoming place! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable in recommendations. I got the lemon bar which was so good but on the sweeter side.

Every coffee they serve has a story published on their website. Good spot to study. Adjacent to a paid parking surface lot but they validate your tickets.

In short, I highly recommend this place if you need to get some work down while drinking a delicious coffee, this is your place

One of the best coffee shops in the town. Nice customer service. Super important- their coffee not bitter and not over extracted like in 90% SA coffee shops. Great place, great coffee!

Brown Coffee creates the best standard cup of coffee in town. Even among other coffee shops they are considered the standard of quality. The newer Southtown location is spacious and modern. You'll find lots of seating and people of all ages on laptops or chatting. Think a modern Central Perk without Smelly Cat. Street parking may be difficult but you'll find it because Brown is worth it.

The wife and I wanted to try Cinnaholic, which we did, but we were drawn inside this coffee shop (it was also advertised next door). Little did we know we were going to be treated with such great customer service. We walked in and we were not sure what to get at first, but the barista helped us choose something that we would individually like which was extremely helpful and something you rarely come across in the food service industry.

With a beautiful open concept and great seating, this place was great for us and our 5 month old.

Amazing coffee!!

My wife and I walked in, waiting to order we noticed a note from Alton Brown the crazy dude from good eats. Alton is one of my favorite people on the Food Network. We figured if he liked it, we were in the right place. Oh my were we right!! Rich smooth and full bodied coffee, was exceptional!! Will be back!!
