Very small and you might have to sit with strangers but food was great, sweet tea was really good, lots of dessert choices too!

After waiting for years to come on Sunday to eat fried chicken we finally drove up from Houston to enjoy it. We arrived at 11:10, so there was no problem for the two of us getting a table. We were greeted by our waitress who gave us both menus and pointed out the chicken on Sunday. We said that's what we want, so our order was placed. It took about ten minutes to get the chicken and we enjoyed the rolls with herb butter as we waited. The sides that came out with the chicken were both already cold (potatoes were good, but neither of us cared for the corn). One chicken breast was plentiful while the other one had three bites (we ordered two chicken plates). It was very tasty chicken though-very moist. The waitress stops by and asks if we need pie-we've barely made a dent in anything and it's only been 20 minutes since we've sat down. We felt rushed to vacate the table (at this point it's getting busy and a waiting list is forming). We did not order pie; instead, we paid the check to leave.
We were disappointed and we will not return.

It’s worth the wait if you’re not there by 10:30 when it opens at 11:00 on Sunday. We had the crab cakes and the Sunday special fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cream corn. The special is served family style. It’s was all very good including the service. We will definitely return. It’s a small and very busy family owned restaurant.

Anyone traveling to Austin and Houston...you have to detour here for a delicious meal. This place is incredible.

I ordered the 1/2 lb. Cafe Burger with fries. Such a flavorful burger.

Another family member ordered the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes & greens. The beef was so tender with lots of flavor.

The dessert we ordered was pecan pie with Blue Bell ice cream. Out of this world delicious.

The service is top notched. You don't have to ask for drink refills...they do it automatically once your glass is half empty.

I highly recommend this local establishment.

Fun,funky little restaurant in the heart of round top. Famous for their great food & pies. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because $40+ for lunch for two is a bit steep. That's not including tip. Hamburger, steak sandwich & fries, one iced tea & 1 cinnamon roll.

We recently had the Sunday fried chicken and it was delicious. Put this on your bucket list now. The food was awesome and the cherry pie was heavenly. The service was Five Star. If you are in the area you gotta go to Royers.
Make a reservation because they are always booked.

Quirky. Lots of personality. Good service. But most importantly, delicious food. My wife is a huge fried green tomatoes fan and gave these her hearty approval.
I had the chicken sandwich. It was both huge and delicious. The bleu cheese here is maybe my favorite ever. It has such a great balance. All the bleu cheese flavor and texture but without overwhelming everything else in the sandwich.
We didn't have pie here, but rather, went over to their Pie Haven location, which was also awesome.

For the past 3 years, whenever I come to Texas, I always make sure I get to the Round Top Café. It is worth the 1 hour drive from the greater Houston area. The food is phenomenal! It’s down home good eating, yet fine and exquisite at the same time. Not only is the food great but the service just takes it over the top!! I love their jalapeño cheese grits and of course when it comes to dessert, you can never go wrong with anything from Royers!

We had a reservation for 4 at 6:30. We arrived 10 minutes early to wait on the front porch. Shortly after arriving, we heard shouting coming from the back of the restaurant with someone saying repeatedly, "Get the f__k out!". At 6:40, I went inside to get a few drinks while we waited patiently. I approached the bar area to order our drinks and was shocked to be told by the only employee available to ask someone else because she was extremely stressed and didn't have time to help me. Someone else came over and helped me get a few drinks.

After returning to the porch with our drinks, we were surprised when a female handler for the owner started to demand that our party make way for "Bud Royer" to come through. We got out of the way as well as we could, but she continued to demand that we move more. This, all while, she said nothing to people who were much more "in the way" than our party. After getting through, she elected to confront us because we had a problem with her "make way for the king," name dropping episode.

We chose to leave and went across the street to Lulu's, where we were treated like valued guests.

In general, this restaurant, from the beginning of our interaction, had an attitude that they were doing us a favor to allow us the privilege of dining with them.
