This modern twist on a classic diner is beautiful and delicious. The breakfast sandwiches are hearty and tasty, made on fresh homemade biscuits. The coffee is delicious. And the pricing is reasonable.
I would love to see this diner do well. Which is why I have a few suggestions. I can get on board with the more modern feel, but to me, "diner" implies great service and home cooking. The cooking is spot on. The service needs some tweaking. This place is set up to order at the counter instead of having table side ordering. I don't actually mind that. But then when you pay it asks for tip. Ok. But tip is based on service. Don't get me wrong, I'm always going to tip. But whether that tip is 15% or 20% or more is based on the service. The gal taking the order is sitting down with her iced latte in hand. That sends a message too.
The food was amazing. The coffee was great. But half the time we had to ask for more coffee because no one is checking on us. No one seems to "own" the table. So additional service is hit or miss. At one point I took my empty cup to them. I actually really liked this place because it IS beautiful and the food and coffee are fantastic. But when every single employee has an iced latte in hand and I can't get a refill, that's frustrating. (And this is not an exaggeration. Ever single front counter person was sipping an iced latte.) Was this because we didn't tip before service? I don't know. We certainly left a cash tip on the table. Everyone there was even super friendly. They just weren't paying attention to the most basic diner detail. Coffee.
I'd still highly recommend this place and come back myself. I think they are really good. But I think with very minor adjustments they could be fantastic.

Quaint diner with delicious food & reasonably priced. Only issue is there 4 - 5 flies that wouldn't leave us alone. Flies are nothing unusual for Texas, but there should be something they can do to mitigate the issue & help the dining experience for customers. Otherwise I would have given them six stars if it was possible.

Our first time coming to the diner yesterday Enjoying the 90 on 90. Had fabulous breakfast. Best hash browns I have ever had and that is saying alot. Definitely cooming back. Staff was also warm and inviting.

Great breakfast and I'm sure great lunch too (I've just only ever gone for breakfast). The eggs Benedict, chicken fried steak and eggs and the breakfast sandwiches are amazing. Probably the best place to get breakfast in Fayette County.

My now-husband and I used Darlin's diner to cater our wedding reception! Taylor was so sweet and great to work with. She went through the process step-by-step and worked with us to find a good menu at a price within our budget. Her food is excellent by the way (the turkey bacon avocado ranch sandwich is a must try!), and she went above and beyond to help us in ways she didn't necessarily have to. For instance, we fell short on the number of plates that we needed for our guests the day of the wedding, and she supplied them all! We are so grateful that we could book Darlin's Diner and support such a talented local restauranteur!

Super friendly owners and the best breakfast we've had in a long time. Full coffee selections. Historic building with photos of old time Flatonia. Must stop here when you're anywhere near here!

Staff was too busy talking to each other to say anything to us when we came in. We were traveling and always like to try out the local places. We sat down and my husband took my 2 kids to the bathroom. About 10 minutes later no one had acknowledged me or said a word. When my husband came out of the restroom with the kids, the girl behind the counter handed my husband a menu and told him he could come back up to order when ready. The food was just ok. I had a blt. It was, well, a blt. Asked for tea refill and mustard and never got it. You pay and tip when you order your food. I hate that process as the waitresses did not deserve the 20% my husband had already left. Will definitely not go back. Edited to reply to owner's comment: The restaurant was not busy. There was no one in there except 2 people at the counter. And they never said anything about "self-serve" drinks. I would have been happy to get them myself but there was little conversation from the waitstaff.
