The Turtle Restaurant

We really enjoy this place! Fantastic for date nights, adult birthday parties, and Mary will even make a special cake for the party! I highly recommend the honey pecan roasted chicken or the good morning burger! Also, the gelato is award-winning-YUMMY! Such a special place to us.

We've been to The Turtle Restaurant several times, but only to indulge on their Gelato. Oh my goodness, this is the most delicious gelato we've ever had. This last time we stopped in, I got Strawberry Cheesecake and Lemon Lavender Gelato. My husband got Lemon Lavender and Peanut Butter with crunchy chocolate chips. Everything was crazy delicious. The lady that helped us was very nice and helpful. The shop was clean and everything is made fresh with new flavors frequently. This is a must stop!!! Enjoy!

I like the sweets and coffee. Service is excellent. Price is a little out of my range, but an anniversary only comes once a year!! I guess $67 wasn't too bad. The steaks were an inch thick!! Kudos To the cook!! I will return for gelato!!

We had a delectable dinner for my grandmother's 85th birthday. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing! While each of our dishes (appetizer, salad, and entrees) were wonderful, the dessert we had was worth writing home about. We had the apricot bread pudding...best bread pudding I have had anywhere!

If you are asking “how is this menu so diverse and yet so good” I’ve been asking myself for days. This lady knows her cooking. Get the lavender lemon gelato on your way out.

Turtle took great care of us while we were in town! We were stranded by the flooding, car-less, unsure of our future and the whole town seemed to rally for my wife's birthday! Awesome food, great staff, incredible atmosphere! The bartender was excellent, took great care of everyone in the place! Will be a regular stop when we go this direction! Thank you!

Be aware that this is considered “slow food,” but it’s totally worth it! Our bartender, Drex, had a very busy evening, but remained cool and calm. Delicious drinks and a huge variety of wines. We ate at the bar and had a great, chill time.

This is an excellent restaurant. On par with a fine dinning restaurant in a large city. It can be a little slow at times, but when I go there I am not looking for fast food! Everybody mentions the great wine list, but I am even more impressed with their fine beer list! This establishment has the finest beer list you will find without having to drive to Austin or Dallas. They also have a great little bar on the side of the restaurant where you can get a drink and a snack. I am in the draft beer business and know beer styles well. You won't be disappointed!

Pleasant surprise to experience such carefully prepared excellent food in an idyllic downtown setting. Thoughtful preparation and choices, fresh ingredients, generous portions and reasonable prices, an amazing wine by the glass list, served in a relaxing and beautiful setting make this a restaurant to want to return to over and over again. A culinary delight in the town of Brownwood Texas !

Love this place! Quiet, no rush. Owner always greets us. If your looking for something fast, call ahead, but if you have plenty of time and want to relax and have an amazing meal, this is the place.
