Got here after a 10 hour drive hoping for some good comfort food. Instead it was one of the more bizarre eating experiences I've ever had. First we come in & the front room is packed. Nobody greeted us, so I assumed it was seat yourself & we saw the second room to sit in. The waitress seemed miffed that we had sat in her section and waited a good long while before bringing us menus & getting drinks. We ordered the Friday night special, a steak & the enchiladas, hoping it would be fast since we had two tired wiggly kids with us. HA. That was the longest wait for food I've ever experienced. Another group of patrons came in & sat and they got their food before we did. The waitress continued to treat us like a huge inconvenience, though she would talk nicely to the kids. Finally our food came (after a strange encounter with the kid one table over who came up to my son while holding two steak knives). My husband's steak was supposed to be a medium & it was charred on one side. The enchiladas were soupy & I've had microwave dinner ones that were better. I'm not a picky eater, but this was a huge letdown, especially after that kind of wait. I'd like to think that it was just a bad night for the waitress & maybe their cooking was off that day, but it's not really something you want to pay $25 for to give them another chance.

Got the chicken fried steak special. The beef soup had a really good broth, the meal came out which included loaded baked potatoe and corn. The steak was a good size and the breading didn't over power the steak. Corn was pretty basic I had to add pepper. The desserts are really good, 3 people 3 drinks came out to 45.00 which is a fair price for the amount of food we got. Will be returning.

We visited this restaurant on Friday July 30th at noon and again Monday morning for breakfast. Both visits we had Miss Renee as our waitress. She was fabulous, attentive to our needs (11 of us) and always had a smile. We can say if we came back to Aransas Pass we would definitely visit again.
Thank you Renee!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Good breakfast, one of the best I have had in awhile. I am completely satisfied with their good old fashioned home cooking.

This is an old-fashioned Diner that's been in place for years. Just remember if you go in they are having problems finding help so things are a little bit slow just drink some good coffee have some good conversation with whoever you're with. The food is worth the wait.

The food is good. We always eat there for breakfast which is the best. But we decided to go for dinner and well I guess some of the guests there were not well meaning they were coughing and gagging a lot and which was very uncomfortable I couldn't even eat cuz it was excuse me for saying gross very gross! I won't be going there no more for dinner. And I'm a regular customer for breakfast

This is a hidden treasure! Great food and the best people watching! We drive from Corpus on Saturdays for the vegetable beef soup and they never disappoint.

Understaffed. This place is always packed but I contend that it's not because they are particularly good (they're not), they are the only game in town. On several occasions my food has not been prepared they way I requested. And every now and again the staff can be rude. I recommend anywhere but here.
As an add on to my original review. My wife and I decided to give this place a try one more time. Food is still not particularly good. Service was extremely slow even though they seemed to be staffed adequately for the customer load. Had the pleasure of being serenaded by one of the kitchen staff with his rendition of what can only be called a profanity laced tirade. The other staff could hear him in the dining area as well as we could and did apologize for him but waited until I verbalized my displeasure before anyone went to the kitchen and tell him to lower his voice. Pretty sure I am done giving this place any more of my patronage.

Food is good but the service is slow. Need to seat standing customers when tables are clean and not leave them standing forever. A sign said they were short staffed but better management would take care of the problems because they had plenty of people working.

Wonderful place! We found this little gem on our way home from a disappointing trip to Port Aransas. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Waitresses that actually made the meal pleasant by making sure you had everything you needed. Homemade onion rings that were awesome and the seafood meals we ordered were great, more than we could eat, and very reasonably priced. I wish this place was closer to home so I could eat there often.
