Food was good enough. Service was bad. There were maybe 4 of the 20 tables where people were eating (8 or 9 total diners). Waitress/server took our order, brought the food out, put down the checks and then never came back. I had to leave the table to get my tea refilled. Another server brought some water for refills. We finished and I would have liked some of the peach cobbler that was on the lunch chalkboard. Nope, never checked on us. Probably would have spent another $15-$18 on desserts (there were 5 of us). Their loss.

Simply down home great food and service. The breakfast was delicious. Homemade milk gravy and biscuits.
Coffee is flavorful and rich. Service was second to none. Made us feel right at home.

Went here for lunch. We went about noon and it wasn't crowded at all.
The staff was sweet and lovely. She explained that they made everything fresh and there would be a wait for food, which we totally understand. I got the turkey burger and my husband decided on bacon cheeseburger. Both were delicious. Already talking about going back soon to try their breakfast.

We have seen this cafe on Tennessee Crossroads and it is well worth the visit. We loved it, great food, great service, great atmosphere. We are going back for lunch in a couple days.

I’m so glad we found City Cafe! It’s the type of place that’s hard to find anymore- a classic down home diner where the waitresses get to know their patrons and the food is fantastic. We had a great experience for breakfast. Our waitress was attentive and sweet and the food was out in no time. As a native who has seen Middle Tennessee change so much in recent years, I’m glad to see a little slice of times past still thriving. If you want a true small town southern experience, don’t go to the made-to-look rustic places, go to City Cafe!

Got the country fried steak w/ mashed potatoes, cream corn, and pinto beans. Some of the best food I've had in years. The pinto beans were the best I've ever had with chunks of ham in them. Will go back often.

I had very excellent breakfast with my wife there this morning after her 12 hour shift all night. They were very prompt and quick the food was delicious and they bent over over backwards as usual to make us happy patrons.

It was good, but I prefer it for breakfast than lunch...

Family owned and operated since February 1900. Small town, friendly atmosphere. Good food. Reasonable prices. And best cinnamon roll I've ever eaten (has a cake / biscuit texture instead of a more traditional yeast roll texture). Highly recommended if you're in Murfreesboro. 👍
