When I travel around the country I like to visit one of the oldest restaurants in whatever state I'm in. In Tampa it's the Columbia, Indianapolis it's St Elmo's This is one of those restaurants downtown Murfreesboro Tennessee. Same location since 1900. Good food great prices.

City Café is the oldest restaurant in Tennessee still in operation and has seen 14 owners over its 120 year history. This place serves a serious “fill you up” breakfast and I took advantage of the Bacon & 2 Eggs over medium, Toast, Sausage Gravy & Home fries. My granddaughter went with the HUGE plate hiding single pancake with chocolate chips, and the little one went with a plain old biscuit. Everything was delicious…service was great…and you can’t beat the price for the amount of food served.

The food is awesome, the biscuits were tender and soft, the service is also great. Reminds me of the diners but not a diner, you can eat here without worries.

Great experience, service, and food. Would recommend stopping in for a country breakfast if in area. Been around since 1900

Lived in Murfreesboro for 25 years and had never been. I hate myself. Great food and very cool atmosphere. Great service. Will definitely be coming back on a regular basis.

You absolutely need to enjoy breakfast and lunch here. Make your omelets to order. But the real gem is the bbq chicken with out of this world bbq sauce that is delicate and delicious. Saturday am they had 3 string live entertain.

Never got water to My table or any response for over 15 -20minutes. Sat up front and never even brought my water,,much less order.. Very Slow ,be prepared to take over an hour just to eat. Not worth the time or money. 16 dollars for a plate for breakfast is too much.not counting your drink. . Left and will not be back. It used to be better...too slow . sorry hope you got deep pockets for nothing that great.

We enjoyed lunch at historic City Cafe on the Square in Murfeesboro! Right across from the County’s beautiful Courthouse! City Cafe has specials every day! We enjoyed their Famous Homemade Meatloaf with vegetables! The yeast rolls & cornbread were delicious. Blackberry Cobbler was amazing! Breakfast & lunch served daily! Take out available also! Be sure to visit soon!

We just moved to Murfreesboro and so glad we found this place! The staff and service was very friendly and great! The food was delicious and fairly priced. Their restroom was clean and spacious.
