The Mercantile Cafe / Sweet Simplicity Bakery / Ice Cream Shop

This place is good for the older folks. Doesn't feel very welcoming to the younger generation. The food is plain, not worth the price. The workers are very direct and can appear rude when speaking. Wish I had cooked at home.

Loved the place. The food was great, my fish sandwich was huge n the fries were crispy! They also had a extremely large selection of desserts. The people were very friendly n helpful to us northern first timers...lol!

Food is okay if you are wanting veggies. Need to change up menu & add more of a variety. Desserts are too expensive & not all that great, rather tasteless. Look better then they taste. Owner lady is super nice & accommodating. Turned off this week by how rudely an employee (some older blonde lady) spoke to a younger woman employee in front of customers. Was completely hateful & inconsiderate. If I'm there to pick up lunch I don't want to hear hateful comments towards another employee. Stressful to hear that tone being used towards a young worker who probably needs to be working. People wonder why they can't keep help?? Treat people with respect and don't humiliate them in front of customers. When they act as if they are doing me a favor to wait on me I don't feel the need to give them my business. Food is mediocre at best, but a pleasant attitude goes a long way. Sweet, vibrant owner needs to put some of the older gals in check!!

Wow is all I can say! This was our first time visiting this restaurant and all I can say is we’re BLOWN AWAY!!! Even with it being a super busy Mother’s Day, the staff were friendly and astute. This place reminds me of going eat with family and friends. The food is more delicious than I could describe. And we cannot wait to eat all the cake and pie slices we bought! We will be regulars and looking forward to their new building! Thank you The Mercantile for an amazing experience.

One of the best places to eat in Manchester. Friday fish is awesome!

I absolutely love this place. They have the best home cooked food to go along with their excellent service. I only wish I lived closer so I could eat at the Merc everyday.

Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, Blueberry Congealed Salad and Carrot Souffle. Can not wait to try desert!

Really amazing food! Only downside is there was a vent next to me in the booth we were at that was pumping out cold air, put my coat over that spot and had an awesome dinner with my family.

Passing through and stopped to pick up a pie or some type of dessert for family gathering. When we arrived owner had just made a blueberry cream pie with meringue, with the blueberries picked from her garden the day before. The pie was incredible and was a huge hit with family. The entire pie was devoured within a few hours. We will certainly return whenever we are headed to west Tennessee and next time will order a variety of pies. Everyone at the Mercantile was so pleasant and the owner went out of her way to ensure we had a dessert for our gathering, even last minute. Very highly recommend!!! Thank you so much!!! The Dixons.
