Passed by on our way to dinner, stopped in at the last minute to peruse quickly kinda not so quickly before they closed and ended up getting some upgrades for my MTG decks.
This shop is cozy and packs a BIG punch. Haven't had any coffees yet, Kevin was extraordinarily helpful. Knowledgeable about MTG. Shop has a wide variety of gaming materials. Didn't realize how close it was to my house. Definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and can't wait to come back in!

My girlfriend and I are newer Pokémon collectors and we spent over an hour browsing through cards and asking how much each card was. Bobby made this process so easy and fun. He even allowed us to browse through their binders behind the counter! We visited 11/12/22.
Thank you!

Favorite place to pick up Pokémon cards! What's even better is they keep ETBs and packs for customers and keep them away from scalpers.

Just started playing Magic. Went here for the first time today with my buddy who has been into Magic for several years. Had a great experience and the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

This place is fantastic and I love it. I wanted to introduce my wife to better coffee than Starbucks and this place offered us more. We're big into DnD and my sessions run Saturdays and Sundays. Though we don't play here, there's a section dedicated and would love to DM. It's still awesome that I can come in and grab some espresso, talk about our next adventure, and open my next campaign out on the right foot.
Lots of people of great variety seem to enjoy this place, playing all types of games regularly as I never see the store empty. They have a lot of tabletop items for sale and a lot of stuff I'd not catch anywhere else. The staff are a pleasure to talk to and have at least some experience per every game out there. It's tight, but clean and welcoming. Parking can be tough but, for the size of the building I'd say it's honestly about right. Cafe menu options are rotated and provide some variety through the year.
Overall, this place provides an excellent spot for all tabletop based gaming enthusiasts, and is a hidden gem within Lexington that has become my favorite hot spot for all things DnD. Thanks for being there, and the awesome Roll for Initiative coffee for my inspiration.

I am not from South Carolina but I travel often. I have been a veteran in the gaming industry for the better part of two decades and as a result, I have been in many local gaming/hobby stores. In my experience, The Side Deck - Gaming Cafe is one of the best local gaming/hobby store I have ever been to.
1. They offer a wide variety of products, across many games (board games and TCGs, amongst other types of games). Often if they do not have something, they will attempt to either find it or provide helpful information on what the customer can do or go in order to find the item, even if not being purchased directly from them.
2. Their prices are extremely reasonable and tend to sell their items at prices that are reasonable, and not always based on the current value of an item (if that item happens to currently be sold elsewhere for unreasonable prices).
3. Their staff are always knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful.
4. The Cafe section of their business is amazing. When in town, I definitely prefer getting my caffeine fix here instead of a Starbucks.
5. I just get a general "family" vibe every time I come here, which is always great.
My experience here is so positive, that every year I do my best to fly out to their annual store anniversary celebration event, where they not only celebrate another year of business, but celebrates another year of being a part of an amazing gaming community.
If you are in town and looking for a nice place to grab a cup of coffee/tea or maybe looking for some gaming supplies or a place to play and meet other gamers that share your interest, I would highly recommend checking out this place.

Their drinks are absolutely fantastic and the staff are always professional and willing to do quite a lot to make your life easier. This is my go-to place to buy and play Yu-Gi-Oh and I doubt that will change any time in the future.
