The Butcher Shoppe / Big Oak Cafe

Decent enough selection, and the quality is generally OK. However, they seem to make a point of hiring the most, at best, indifferent people to work there. Sometimes the indifference boarders on hostility. I've finally decided to stop shopping there because dealing with those people is too aggravating. Tired of walking into the store in a good mood just to be treated as an inconvenience to whatever it is the employees would rather be doing other than helping customers. And no, I'm not a diva who expects the staff to fall all over themselves trying to fulfill my every whim. However, a simple "Hello, how may I help you today?" seems to be beyond them.

I have been going to the Butcher Shoppe for over 25 years and the quality of the items has gone down while the prices have gone up. I recently attended a birthday party that had a larger cake and 2 dozen cupcakes from the Butcher Shoppe and they were TERRIBLE!!! You’d think that the outrageous prices would at least ensure a good quality item but it was the opposite. Both the cake and cupcakes tasted like they had been baked weeks ago and just soaked in sugar syrup to give the appearance of being fresh. The worst I have ever tasted. Ever. I used to always recommend their cakes to people but now I would be embarrassed to serve their bakery items.

Absolutely love this place. Great food, high quality, huge selection, and resonable prices for a non-chain business. Fresh meat, homemade salads, excellent sub and salad bar! Just wish I lived closer as it is a half-hour away. However, the drive is definitely worth it!

Lousy experience at the butcher shoppe. The cashier was more worried about the lady who had a handle break on her bag then ringing me up . Charged me for an item twice. Reading comments there prepared foods have gotton lousy. Got rice pudding was runny no taste . Got some cheese broccoli 🥦 soup the broccoli was still raw not cooked🤮 . Also got tuna helper . The peas weren't cooked and had no taste or little to no tuna. After spending 50 dollars what a waste .I like to shop local family owned but very disappointed 😞
