I love this place with all my heart. I wish I could spend more time here. Such a well thought out space. Bar flow looks great as well. Employees work as a team. Food/pastries are fantastic. Service is gold!! Now lets talk coffee. Water Ave is bringing the heat on those single origins. Their blends are exactly what they should be. Goes super well with a bit of milk, say a cortado or macchiato. Roast profile is medium to medium-dark, but the clarity is there. I would say they are catering to their customers for sure. I am interested to see where this shop goes in the future. So much potential for further greatness.

Water Ave coffee is incredible (seriously some of the best beans around!), but have you tried their granola?!!! If not, what are you waiting for?? I’m not sure how they do it, but the granola at Water Ave is the most perfect, crispy, lightly sweet, nutty granola I could imagine. I’ve tried the granola a few times- most recently with their chia pudding, but also over yogurt. All I can say is .. get yourself to Water Ave ASAP and give their coffee and snacks (specifically the granola!!) a try!

Super cute coffee shop on the east side. Lots of seating. Great ambiance. Friendly baristas. One thing I liked the most is they didn't make my coffee too hot. Usually I have to wait 5 minutes for the coffee to cool before my first sip - complete torture! At WA I could take my first sip on my way back to the table and it was delightful.

This is a wonderful coffee shop I found while visiting Portland. Both my espresso and cappuccino were delicious and I'm a sucker for any shop that serves a sparkling water back with an espresso. I can't speak to their food since I just ordered drinks but the menu looked great and I found myself wishing I could stay for breakfast.

I've worked in coffee for a few years and visited this place upon recommendation from coworkers. Holy cow! We ordered an italiano and a soy latte with their house blend espresso. The espresso was wonderful. Light enough that the roast didn't over power the flavor of the beans, but not so light as to be sour. And the soy latte may have been the best steamed so drink I've ever had. The atmosphere is beautiful as well. A touch of industrial with the exposed beam ceiling and metal, and a clean minimal look with polished wood and big windows. Even with all the coffee shops in PDX, I can't imagine not coming right back to this one on my next visit.

I love this place :) Staff is super friendly and coffee is consistently good. I love their outdoor seating space and I can’t wait to hang out inside again once covid is all over! Their chai is really good too.

Traveling thru town on our way back to Seattle. Stopped here since we had heard from a couple of locals how good the coffee was. This place exceeded our expectations. The coffee is delicious. my husband ordered a double shot espresso. The expresso is served with a sparkling water for palette cleansing. That is when I knew , these guys know about coffee and how it’s supposed to taste. Coffee was delicious , not bitter , very smooth shot. I recommend doing baristas choice. The Barista chooses the blend for you. Fun way to experiment with different roasts. The food was fresh and Delicious, I had the breakfast burrito and highly recommend. The atmosphere is very hip and laid back. The customer service was outstanding. We will be back when we are back in PDX.

Water Ave. has some of the most unique coffee I have ever drank in my life...the Colombian Sudan Rume. It is so bright, sweet, cream, and all around special...it literally had a strawberry jam smell and note in the cup. Everyone needs to try it once in their life (even if its $35 for a 8oz bag), some rare beans but ultra legit!
I'm also a blend guy and they have some great choices in that area as well....Beautiful shop on Water Ave.

knowledgeable staff, good drip to order coffee, and nice sandwiches. Fantastic (and cheap!) French pressed coffee with refills. The back of the shop is dedicated to the roaster--leaving no doubt as to how fresh & local the product is. It is a bit noisy when they are roasting, though.

Water Ave. coffee is a cool spot with nice outside seating during the warmer months. There is ample bike parking too that is visible from inside, which is nice if you're uncomfortable bringing your bike into the area. It's pretty popular though so crowds are common but the staff are cool enough that it's not a major sticking point.

Oh, and the coffee is good, of course.
