Such a cool and unique coffee shop, with awesome baristas and tasty pastries. Been coming here for years, every time I'm in town

If I could give Sleepy Monk 10 stars, I would!!
Walked up right at 8am with my two children. There was a huge line! I had no idea to expect this as we’re not from here! Apparently this a very common thing? My children are young and partially impatient so we almost left, but decided to stick the line out and I’m so glad we did!
The long line actually moved quite briskly. The menu is posted largely to the left with the usual suspects and some specialty drinks. To your right are the food selections and oh my goodness, DO NOT SKIP THIS! Any of it. You literally can’t go wrong. We had the turkey sausage, cheddar, garlic biscuit-y thing, vanilla glazed sprinkle donut and the orange chocolate scone. Wowza. Incredible flavor in all those items, freshly baked each morning on site. The bagels looked insanely good as well as the other treats (more donuts, lemon curd biscuit thing, bacon blue cheese scone, bars etc). The flavor of their espresso is so velvety smooth. No bitterness, with a solid punch of flavor from first sip to end. The interior is eclectic and interesting, super cozy with a few large round tables. I’m in love with this place!!

Best coffee shop in Cannon Beach, by far. Great pastries too.
Sleepy Monk is a “must visit” every time we come to Cannon Beach

Really great coffee. The service pattern and experience is pretty low due to Covid, but they are observing social distancing and there is Jon inside seating.

I love this place! It's a must stop on tyre coast for me. They have any and every kind of coffee you would like or could dream up. All organic all freshly roasted. Lots of gluten free and vegan snacks as well as dairy free milk selections. The people are down to earth and the pace itself is a great little spot to chill. Lots of seating outside so bring your dog.
Update- after a more recent visit this last year, the staff was not as warm and welcoming. After waiting in a line that stretched to the road, and realizing they were still requiring masks even though the state wasn't, I asked peeked my head in through the door and asked if my mom could pay for me and I'd give my order to them. I forgot my mask in the car and didn't want to get back in line all over again with my very upset 2 year old. The 2 ladies snapped at me and yelled to get out without a mask. I understand if it's policy but there's no need to be rude. I got out of line and walked all the way back to my car parked a ways away to get my mask and came back to wait in line again. When I got to the counter the ladies acted like I had broken some law and treated me like trash. The coffee wasnt that great that time either. Maybe it was the service that left a bitter taste in my mouth. This used to be a place I stopped at every year on my way to the coast. I probably won't be back.

Great staff and coffee! With a long line out the door we were greeted with a smile and delivered our coffee/food extremely fast! Best espresso in the PNW 👏🏻

Always a line, filled with lovely people that do not mind waiting for scrumptious treats 😋! Fresh ingredients, good variety of pastries and delicious espressos. My favorite is the lemon 🍋 curd scone.

Had a 12 oz iced latte with caramel sauce. They were a bit light-handed on the caramel sauce, imo, but it was still a really good coffee. I believe this cafe has the best pricing for coffee! The employees were hustling, but the wait for a coffee was 30 mins.

After reading a lot of reviews (both positive and negative), we decided to give this place a chance. The positive reviews outweighed the negative, so I was feeling fairly confident. First, we expected there to be a line as that is what the majority of the reviews mentioned. Not my favorite thing, but not horrible if I know in advance. Sadly, the coffee was not very good and definitely not worth the wait like I was hoping. It had a rather burnt taste to it and adding extra sweetener did not help.
I'm interested to see the response from the coffee shop, as all the negative reviews I read had replies from the shop, and I was quite shocked by how rude and sassy they were. This was something we initially discussed before giving the coffee shop a try, but figured we'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

Their specialty mochas are SO good and the chocolate whipped cream just makes it super special! Great bagels, all warm and soft make it a perfect morning at the beach!
