I once had their cheesecake and it was the best in the county. Their coffee is amazing and their service is even more so. I would definitely recommend and come back again. If you like local coffee, you'd love tree city!

Tree City is definitely the best coffee in Kent hands down. The Maple Latte is the best beverage I’ve ever consumed. I want to live in Kent forever because that coffee is so good. However, every once in a while I will get a cup of coffee that just doesn’t quite taste right. Or they will be out of the pastry I want. 95% of the time it is available. Also the lemon poppyseed scone is an 11/10.

We asked for the fireplace and they kindly turned it on 😊 Also, they have two choices of peanut butter, their chai tea was at the perfect temperature and the kid's hot chocolate were too! Also, the pumpkin seed and cranberry scone was divine. Great chill atmosphere, they have cute and useful tree city paraphernalia available, and if you are bored they have newspapers and pamphlets and fliers. Much enjoyable 😊

I'm not a huge coffee fan but this place is really good. I got a pourover that made me feel as if I should buy coffee more often. They also have a lot of cool pastries and sandwiches too. My only wish is that their drink portions were larger for the price offered.

Ordered a white lightning (which in all fairness isn't a super common drink) which caused a bit of confusion and required some explaining to both the girl at the register and the barista who made it, but all that aside, dude nailed it. Tasted awesome. Didn't get breakfast, but their selection looked pretty rad. Now I definitely have a reason to go back.

The establishment has a manager that alienated me with her unfriendly and rude behavior. I will not visit again. You are a rude person. I could not give the second order to another because door dash stacked it on my phone. Meaning i could deliver the first order without the second order. You need to understand it was door dash fault not mine.

Tree City is such a gem. With the closing a few years back of Susan's Coffee & Tea, a beloved & independent local spot, Tree City is a welcome pseudo-replacement in newly revitalized downtown Kent. Spacious & modern, with a sort of industrial-but-cozy ambiance, this local joint boasts organic, fair-trade coffee & a short but sweet food menu of fun twists on PB&J sandwiches & a host of homemade pastries.
Their website touts a "stay-put atmosphere," inviting customers to camp out with a laptop or a textbook - no pressure to hustle out as soon as you're done with your latte. Clientele is varied, from students to professors to local color, & seating options accommodate all kinds of visitors - big tables, small tables, lounge chairs, & a couch around a fireplace for folks who just want to chat or read a copy of The Kent Stater newspaper.
I considered docking one point for snooty baristas (not all of them, but a distressing number) & for not having low-fat cream cheese. They specialize in healthy & organic, but I've gotta order full-fat cream cheese? Annoying. But I've got to give a full five points - & enthusiastically so - for tasty lattes (try the maple!), creative seasonal offerings, low prices, high standards, a calming atmosphere, a super-clean facility, & providing an alternative to corporate Starbucks down the road.
My cream cheese grudge aside, this place is really a gem among gems - my favorite coffee shop, period, including all the ones I've frequent in big cities like D.C. & Boston. As downtown Kent continues to grow & thrive, I hope to see Tree City "rooted" here for a long time to come.

I have a great time about half of the time I go to this coffee shop. The other half of the time the service is poor, surly staff, missing ingredients, or inconsistent product. This place just needs a good manager to be a goldmine. But, since I can't count on it being good (and it can be really great!), I usually go somewhere else, with more consistency.

The best coffee shop in Kent! The coffee and atmosphere are both great. They also have multiple non-dairy milk alternatives to choose from.

It's a little pricey coffee goes, but the coffee is very good (far better than Starbucks in my opinion). The pastries aren't bad either. Service is also good. The interior is nice. Overall I would definitely recommend this place.
