This is a fun little used bookshop/bakery. It is two levels with treasures around every corner. Our family fav is the ginger snap stuffed sandwich cookie. YUM š The only draw back with these cookies are that their large size tricks you into trying to share just one with the family. You soon find out that each person in your family needs one all their own. These pair best with vitamin D milkš Just get there!

Walk in and smell the deliciousness. I didn't meet the person doing all the baking but they obviously have amazing talent and creativity. We got two cakes for two birthdays and both were beautiful and tasty. They are also roasting coffee beans here, curating an eclectic collection of books, and offering a surprising selection of Belgian-style, farmhouse, and sour beers. Oh and the pistachio šŖ is one of the best cookies I've ever had.

My favorite little shop on the islandāamazing baked goods plus books, beer and a delightfully random assortment of things to look through.

We were at Topsail for vacation and had a couple of birthdays to celebrate. Not wanting cake, we were looking for some good pies to enjoy and the supermarket just didn't cut it. After looking into Sugar Island we decided to give them a try. Hands down the best pie I have had in recent memory. Things are a little out of whack since they do not have a storefront right now but after trading emails we were able to arrange a pick-up time. The pies were still warm when we got them! They had just been baked that morning. Amazing pies and amazingly helpful people.

I always make sure to visit Sugar Island at least once or twice when I am in town because it is unique in all that it offers. The owners curate carefully the books, selection of fresh made baked goods, local artisans wares, and vintage goodies upstairs. There is no place like it on Topsail.
I particularly love the āmermaid hemp lip balmā I got from them last year. I wish they sold it on their website. I am all out and I canāt find it anywhere. Like everything they offer, It is THE BEST of itās kind!

Sugar Island is a fantastic shop. Everyone there is very nice and polite, and the coffee and baked goods are the best around, no question. A required stop for anyone that comes to the Topsail/Surf City area!

I could stay there all day and get lost in all their whimsical whatchamacallits and thingy-ma-bobs, classic / old books and other amazing oddities. Itās my fave place in all of Topsail island.

local island treasure! I was lucky to hear about this via word of mouth, because I don't think I have noticed it before after living here a few years. Its now one of my favorite places to go! They have the most unique items, books you can peruse for days, and the best pumpkin spice soy chai I have ever had. My kids beg to go all the time and they too can spend hours at Sugar Island looking around and reading books. My daughter has a gluten allergy and they even carry treats she can eat! It makes her feel really special being able to go in and get something that yummy. I cannot recommend Sugar Island enough.

I would give them 100 stars if I could. The owners mother was working the register area and she couldn't have been nicer! I wanted cheesecake but they didn't have any to offer that day, so she kindly referred me to the restaurant next door (which she didn't HAVE to do! Very nice though to support her neighbors). They couldn't help me, so I returned for a different sweet treat instead. I had a salted caramel brownie and it was to die for! It was cute how she displayed it on a cute small ceramic plate. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, it's really such a cool concept to have a bakery, beer, and books! The upstairs was fabulous, my 3 year old loved playing and poking around with the different chairs and decor. He didn't want to leave! We could've spent hours in there. I will most definitely be back.
