The Hobbyist is so cute, the coffee is great, and they have a really nice selection of beer/wine/sake/CBD products. I love going there Friday nights for live music, and the people working there are incredibly friendly. This was one of the first places I tried when I moved to Charlotte and I've gone back several times!

Tried their mocha latte, it was pretty good what made the experience even better was the service and how helpful the barista was (wish I got her name she was truly amazing) and the sitting areas. There is parking in the back with plenty of space as well as street parking on the left side of the plaza.

I visited this location a month or so ago for the first time, it started off fairly bleh… There was a barista who was pretty short tempered with me. I didn’t know where to check out, and she got angry about it and rushed me when I inserted my card. She didn’t ask me if I needed assistance nor did she give me the to-go cup I requested when I purchased a chai tea.
Anyways, things got progressively better when the young African American woman entered. She was more polite and asked if I needed anything, and was pleasant to be around as I sat and worked on my laptop. Soon the first girl left and it was even better when the three gentlemen entered. Had the best tasting Caramel Macchiato, and the customer service was much better from them. The experience got better and plus the shop doubles as a brewery too! So that was pretty cool! It’s a good place to go within the area when out on a date or visiting the NoDa area.

I walked in after my visit to the dentist and decided to get a draft from the bar. There were 1-2 people in line to get coffee drinks. Which the three staff members were seemingly busy with tending to their drinks. There were also two other customers at the bar who had been served already. None of the staff seemed to care that I had entered the establishment and sat at the bar, didn’t even look my way. I entered the place through the front door. They were moving slowly as if they had time to kill. At one point the woman employee sat back for a quick break and didn’t even bother to look over to see if needed anything. At this point I had been waiting there about ten minutes. I like this place and expect a higher level of customer service. I reluctantly decided to leave.

I went to the Hobbyist this morning and was blown away by the skill and hospitality of the Barista's.
The overall service was amazing! It was truly a grand example of what third wave coffee should be! I ordered one of their signature lattes (Toasted Sage & Fig) it was spot on. The flavors blended perfectly with the espresso!
They have pastries delivered from a local bakery down the street too (which I think is amazing since they don't have a kitchen in house)
The atmosphere is stunning. You can tell that whoever designed the space carefully curated the antiques and plants with intention! They have plenty of seating but from what I could see it was filling up fast.
This is now my new favorite specialty coffee spot in Charlotte! Way to go Hobbyist!!!!!

Been here twice, both TO-GO visits. I was greeted warmly each time. I consider myself a coffee guy so I notice certain aspects:
- They serve drinks at the right proportions, not huge 16oz lattes and 14oz cappuccinos.
- Always a fan of coffee shops that make their own syrups. Drinks aren't overly sweet a.la Starbucks. (the entire purpose of going to a small coffee shop imo).
- Even when To-Go, barista still took the time to put an appropriate design in my latte. Don't know his name but the taller white guy.
9.3/10 (still need to sit in).
