Local Lion

The good: I ordered their cake doughnut. Tasted like a heavy yeast glazed.🍩

The bad: the black coffee. It was burnt and nasty. Seriously. 20mins down the road it was finally cool enough to drink and I just poured it out. 😖

This was my second try at the Lion after a mediocre latte 6 months ago.

Fortunately, I got their $3 donut & coffee special, so I didn’t waste $4 on a cup of coffee. Although I wish I had paid more for a better cup.

I couldn’t have been more disappointed.
I’m limiting my words out of courtesy that perhaps they just had a bad day or someone made a horrible batch of coffee and never tasted it themselves. 🤷🏽

Coffee is great. Check out the donuts too! The atmosphere is perfect for sitting down to work for a couple of hours. Hooray for a good local spot in Boone!

Local Lion is a must, whether you're a local, or just visiting from out of town. The drinks are brilliantly & deliciously concocted, & their doughnuts are incredible. It's even better that they support other local small businesses, & charities with their business. I will absolutely be patronizing this bakery café every time I find myself in Boone, NC 🤤

Excellent coffee, donuts, staff, and ambiance. The counter personnel were upbeat, friendly, and helpful. The gluten free donuts are the best!

Absolutely loved this coffee shop in Boone. The staff works incredibly hard between in house customers and the drive thru, and we really enjoyed the teas and espresso we enjoyed there. Great service, the kind that makes you look forward to a return trip on your next vacation.

Local Lion is one of my favorite places in Boone. I found it soon after I moved here a few years ago and now I go at least once a week. I always take my friends and family whenever they’re in town. They have the best donuts and coffee in town and the staff is the best- always smiling and friendly even when they’re super busy. Thanks for always making the best mocha frappes in town!

Need a quick budle of goodies for a staff meeting at work. They were awesome to put together just what we needed spur of the moment.. The Donuts and coffee were amazing. Our batista was super sweet and very helpful.

My favorite coffee shop in Boone. After trying almost all the coffee shops on the map (Boone and Blowing Rock), I stumbled into this beautiful little shop and was instantly in love with the coffee beans ground right in front of me and the phenomenal service. After getting just normal lattes for a while I asked what they recommended and I then tried the "bee bomb" which has got to be the greatest coffee ever. This is a great place to study, catch up with friends, meet new people, or just sit quietly and people watch. I highly recommend. Don't forget to support local businesses!!

We hit this place up over the weekend for a hot cup of coffee. The local shop is trendy with tons of college students enjoying the wifi, coffee and baked goods. Parking is limited and the potential to get towed exists but worth the fresh brewed cup of coffee. We had a creation like a cinnamon roll, but can't remember what it's called, but it was very good. Stop in and enjoy a fresh hot coffee you will enjoy it.
