If you follow The Kind Diet and consider yourself vegan, you will find few options here. The one vegan b’fast sandwich was sold out by 12:30pm, the time of my arrival on a Sunday. Fair enough. But the counter person didn’t even know if the salads were vegan (nope). There are zero options for swaps on the menu. So I opted for a semolina role and oat milk latte, both were delicious. I would have gladly spent more than 8 bucks, if this establishment were vegan-friendly. Vote with your dollars, my fellow vegans, and shop elsewhere!

This family run company exceeded our expectations for a small town bakery. Quality quality quality sums up this establishment. They bake all their breads and confections. If I had a favorite it would be the pistachio cookies - divine. The sandwiches were delicious and coffee made us feel at home. Anthony , Nichole , Andria, Mom (Rosie) and weekend support Ashley make the experience here far above the rest. Rosie General puts Kingston, NY on the map.

Rosie General is a great addition to Kingston! They are here for the community providing great coffee (Mud, the best!) and food at an affordable price. They are open 6 days a week, making fresh bread and flavor bomb sandwiches. I go to this place whenever I’m near.

Love everything about this place. Came here after reading about them in Hudson Valley One newspaper and wasn’t disappointed. Prices might be steep for some locals and the popularity is taxing the small kitchen but take a seat and enjoy the vibe. I highly recommend they add more vegetarian options, at least the choice to have the egg sandwich without bacon if possible!! That would seal the deal. New favorite spot in Rondout.

I was exhausted when I arrived, couldn't even really focus on the menu. I asked for a recommendation and the lady recommended the "spicy egg toast". I had no clue what that was, but saying ok meant I didn't have to think. When I got it, I questioned my life choices but hey, I gave it a shot.

I don't know what the person who came up with this dish was going through when they invented it, but I wish them all the best. It was absolutely delicious and one hell of a surprise. Spinach, spice, bread, eggs and beans. Like, what!? Anyway, 13/10 recommend highly.

This is a cool place to have lunch. The food is good and they can make some options gluten free. My husband had the smoked trout sandwich which he said was outstanding! The little grocery section had some interesting items to offer. I chose the kitchen brussel sprouts. Yum!

Run, don’t walk to get the strawberry shortcake from Rosie’s. We were in Kingston for the morning and stopped at the store to get a snack before the ride back. We ordered the shortcake and the lemonade and boy, we are so glad we decided to order the shortcake. The picture doesn’t do it justice- crème fraiche, basil and fresh strawberries nestled on a bed of strawberry shortcake and strawberry rhubarb jam. It was the best shortcake I’ve ever had- this alone was well worth the trip to Kingston!

Rosie General has been a go-to for us since it opened. We regularly drop in to pick up sandwiches for lunch, and every one we've tried has been delicious. Our regular is the turkey sandwich but just calling it a turkey sandwich is a serious disservice. The flavor combination of the ingredients is out of this world. Makes lunch feel like a treat. And every baked good I've had has been incredible. Some of the BEST cookies and breads around, all fresh every day. The family behind the place are a seriously talented bunch. All in all, an excellent place to stop whether you're visiting Kingston or local to the area!

I want to like this place more, but they are very unwilling to accommodate a wider variety of customers. They do not offer decaf coffee and told me they “never will” because the sole bean supplier they chose doesn’t offer it. Why they can’t get a secondary bean supplier to fill this need, like other independent coffee shops in the area do, I don’t understand. Limited vegetarian, vegan, and GF options on the menu plus the strict “no substitutions” rule also makes it hard for everyone to enjoy the excellent offerings, as I can see from other reviews. If they make a few changes I think they could be more successful!
