This and places like this must multiply across the Hudson Valley to help form a stronger foundation and network of people aching for social justice to help find like-minded folks to meet, discuss ideas, or just chill and catch a bite to eat, make a new friend or find a cool book to borrow/buy. The menu is simple and looks perfect. The coffee was very good indeed. Great atmosphere. Hope there is enough "solidarity" in the community to help build this classy joint into a little social hub!

Loved being at this coffee shop. First of all, the cappuccino art was beautiful and it tasted smooth. The croissant was buttery and crispy. But what shocked me was this was the most political coffee shop that I’ve ever been in my life. Andrew who made me cappuccino said it was sliding scale bc food should be free. I was touched and grateful that this kind of place existed. And the book shelf had Black study, feminist study, sci-fi fictions. I’ve been wanting to read Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin for a while and he just lend me the book for free and told me to bring it back or give it to someone else when I’m done reading.

Fantastic place to grab a coffee and a treat. I was happy to hear the coffee is brewed locally in Rosendale. They have an all vegan menu with pastry’s and cookies from local bakers. There are Lots of gifts and trinkets for sale and there is even a community library! Wow! Next time I hope I have time to sit and read a book or open my laptop. Andrew, the owner of the shop has plans to have artists decorate parts of the exterior so I can’t wait to visit and see the progress.

Wow, love this place. Amazing coffee/croissants, great lending library selection, and I’m obsessed with the Trixie Mattel painting. The sliding scale pricing is a great benefit to the community. Will be back!

Amazing espresso based drinks using the best tasting beans and creamers. I never add any sweeteners to the drinks. They don't need it at all.

The food is amazing too. Andrew has a heart for his community and it shows in his offerings at the shop. Inclusion and safe space for all.

Great cafe, best coffee and espresso in the area, and all the baked goods are excellent. Well worth the visit, especially if you’re in the Rondout or really anywhere in Kingston. Single origin espresso, I don’t really get espresso elsewhere but will here. Andrew is knowledgeable and personable and sets a great tone for the space. Indoor and outdoor seating, off street and street parking.

Best espresso outside of Italy! The pastries are insane and ALL VEGAN which blows my mind. Comfiest and most welcoming community space. Can’t recommend enough!

Blackbird is one of the best reasons to cross the Kingston Rhinebeck bridge! They have a fantastic assortment of sweet and savory vegan pastries, perfectly prepared beverages, and a whole area dedicated to free mutual aid supplies and a radical lending library. Andrew, the owner, is great. Masking is required (and there are free extra masks at the door), so you know that safety and inclusion are prioritized.

Much-needed community space in the Wilbur neighborhood. A place to gather for coffee, tea, kombucha, small bites + books, room for good conversation, and a chill vibe.

This is the first cafe i have felt safe in since 2019 - the mask mandate is such a beautiful and rare blessing for the immunocompromised community. There's a whole separate cafe section for maskless eating & there's also outdoor tables! 💖 also literally THE BEST LATTE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE???? Andrew SLAYS. 💐👏🌻 Also EXTREMELY TRANS AND QUEER FRIENDLY. 🤧💖🌈
