Beautiful, old Inn. Our room was the Silver Cascade room ( all named after area waterfalls), and it was clean and adorable with a big deck looking out to the river. My only complaint was the tired bed mattress. It was queen size with a hump in the middle, between us. The breakfast was very good. They offer one of two choices of their own cooked dishes, preceded by a muffin, granola or croissant.
Had a wonderful relaxing stay at this home away from home. Had a room with a balcony overlooking the Ellis River. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the sun in the dry cool fall air with a hot cup of coffee. Also, breakfast was perfect every morning. The staff really goes above and beyond. Thank you!
The owners and staff alike were very hospitable, inclusive, welcoming, and helpful. Staying here felt like stepping back into the late 1800s/early 1900s Era. Almost every piece of furniture is or looks like an antique. The jetted tub, gas fireplace in bedroom, and private patio were some of our favorite features for our wintery weekend getaway. The breakfasts were very tasty and nicely balanced. Very romantic. We also enjoyed being in a quiet place. Website states not suitable for children under 12 and it certainly maintained a peaceful and relaxing stay without worrying about running children's footsteps and infantile screaming. As we were leaving we had an unfinished bottle of wine we didn't want to go to waste and Mary, one of the sweet owners, went out of her way to find us a cork to preserve it so we could take it back home with us. I would consider coming back and recommending to others.
Location is perfect! Breathtaking views of the Ellis river from the side yard. Centrally located to many awesome restaurants and activities. Rooms were beautifully decorated and super clean. John prepares the most delicious breakfast each morning. The entire staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They really make you feel like family more than guests. Innkeeper Christine has been with Inn for 15 years. Her experience is evident and she truly is a gem! Each evening ends with freshly baked cookies and choice of coffee or tea. A perfect touch. This was our first visit to the Inn at Ellis River, but it certainly won’t be our last. Highly recommended!!
Read great reviews about this place and had to try it with the Hubby. Had beautiful grounds, very nice room on the top floor and I'm glad it was the top because the B&Bs floors creek quite a bit. Bed was comfy and down comforters were delightful. TV movie selection was great too. Room was slightly hot but we opened windows to help. Spa tub in room was great and they replenished our room with water and chocolates daily but didn't make our bed which I thought was odd if you came back in the room to do other stuff like empty the trash bin. Breakfast was delicious each morning you could smell the bacon from the top floor. The italian sausage Fritatta was bomb! Breakfast is limited but it's okay its not a restaurant. The homemade cookies at 3pm were also top notch! Service was friendly and accommodating to special requests. Only negatives would be: I was punctured with a staple on a chair in our room from the fabric letting loose tried to break it with tweezers. Also, the last set of stairs coming down to main floor caught the back of my shoes with I assume staples from the loose carpet fabric: (This should be improved upon) other than that we really enjoyed our stay here.
Wonderful Inn! The bed was so comfy and the breakfast was delicious!! Mary and the staff were so attentive to our needs. We would definitely stay here again.
This place was great! Everybody was super nice and helpful. I've never been to a traditional BnB before and it felt like luxury. We loved the fireplace in the room and the king-sized bed. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and they did everything for you. I would definitely recommend this Inn to others.
This was our 4th time staying at the inn and each time just seems to be better!! The breakfasts are simply amazing! We wait all year to taste John's scones and bacon :) Rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool is clean, and we really enjoy the sauna also! John, Mary, and Christine will make you feel welcomed and comfortable from the minute you walk in the door until the time you leave. We highly recommend staying there and really look forward to going back next year!!
This inn is truly wonderful. The location is perfect. The rooms are charming in an old-fashioned way, and well-kept and clean. The breakfasts are delicious and substantial, just what is needed for a morning of cross-country skiing. Most importantly, though, are the owners and staff. They are personable and welcoming and always willing to help. They are fun - you want to be their friend and talk to them all the time (although that is probably not good for them because they surely need to be doing the other things required to run an inn). There is a sense of history of how they came to own the inn and how it integrates into their life and the community. I could go on and on. In short, I highly recommend the Inn at Ellis River and I hope I can return for another stay in the not too distant future.
Where to even start!? The people, Mary and John, the owners, were super welcoming - along with all the other great staff. We loved the amazing breakfasts - service and food were incredible!!! The bar/game room was wonderfully comfortable and fun at the end of a long day of adventures. Finally - the fire place in our room!!!! Everything was perfect, can't wait to go back.
