Absolutely the best food we have had since being in Montana on vacation! We stopped here on accident because we couldn’t find anything else open. What a great surprise! The food was amazing and the staff was extremely nice. I highly recommend it! It’s worth the wait!

What a hidden gem in downtown Livingston! We accidentally walked in Tru North Cafe on our family vacation and immediately fell love with the relaxing and unique atmosphere and further pleasantly surprised by the large creative beverage selection and food menu. The frozen storm and purple rain tea are a must try for a hot summer day like this. We also enjoyed the fluffy peach muffin and soft delicious French toast pound cake. The owner is very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations, and staff are super nice. I’m impressed by the exquisite taste of the owner’s interior decoration and food creation. Oh and don’t forget o check out his book! Thank you Tru North for your hospitality and we wish more people will discover and enjoy your business!

I was visiting Livingston for a few days, and I never expected to find such a fun and creative cafe. The food was innovative comfort food with some local flare, and everything I had was delicious. The stars were the grilled pound cake with fruit and cream, the breakfast sammy with egg, sausage, cheese and blueberry compote on an English muffin, the “Maple Mountain Cloud” espresso drink, and the seasoned meatloaf with zesty slaw on Texas toast. The owner and chef were incredibly friendly, and the clientele was diverse and fun. My day catching up on work in this cafe made the trip.

1. Beautiful European rustic modern vibes- great atmosphere and aesthetic, art work on walls, animal furs, plant life, mid century modern furniture and moody walls
2. James is personable and creative. He creates a warm atmosphere and is undeniably creative. I enjoyed reading the menu as much as I did eating the food. Such crazy wonderful creations.
Try the sandwich with the blueberry jam and the black and white coffee creation.
3. Food quality -local, fresh, Yellowstone coffee, carefully and thoughtfully crafted. Also love the pound cake- and only 8 dollars !

Such a great chill environment with amazing food and friendly people ! 5 stars !

A Livingston treasure. You can feel the “owner operator” pride and vibe as soon as you walk in. Great location, decor, staff and customers! Everything on the menu is good, but you’ll regret if you visit and don’t try the Maple Cloud at least once.

Just tried Tru North for the first time and was very disappointed with the blacked meat loaf sandwich, which i gave to my dog after 1 bite. Plus I was surprised that they use a styrofoam to go box, which is the worst thing to eat warm food out of. I guess I shouldn't be surprised after living in Livingston for over 20 years, why can't we ever get a restaurant with good food.
