My favorite coffee place in St Louis. Great coffee and friendliest staff. They got delicious food and pastries too. Great place to work/read/study while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee.

Prices were a little high. I somehow paid $17 for 1 drink a donut and a sticker. Seems to be a popular study spot. My latte was 5/5. The donut was not good 2/5. We couldn’t find seating inside, but they have benches outside and it wasn’t too bad as the temperature was 59 degrees and it was sunny. The lady at the register was really nice.

First time here! Smells like heaven when you walk in, service was wonderful and atmosphere is just perfect! Definitely will be back...try the spinach & feta pastry. Yum!

A wonderful place to get excellent coffee, baked goods, tea, gifts, beer, wine, and more! You can sit, relax, write/work on your computer, etc. The staff is so nice! I can't wait to go back!

This is a place where I still remember when I used to chill and sip drink in winter a few years ago. When I lost my key for my house, one of the employees gave me a hot chocolate. When I tried to pay for it, he said "Don't worry about. I hope you find the key." If I have a chance, I will definitely come back to this coziest cafe sometime. I appreciate all the employees with warm heart.

I bought a vegan red velvet cake for my daughter's birthday. It was AMAZING!!! The atmosphere was warm and cozy.

Loved the vibe, the barista, the coffee, the sweets (OMG, that Samoa cookie!). Really lovely place, so many vegan treats, and remarkably clean. If I visit St. Louis again, it will be my first stop.

extremely cool vibe inside. tons of books. some indoor seating available during covid (lots of room between each table). also 3 outdoor tables along the sidewalk. seems like MOCHA is their thing, there are TONS of different types of mocha drinks!! we tried the black forest (quite strong non-alcoholic amaretto flavor), regular mocha, and the truffle mocha (mostly a caramel flavor than chocolate). the espresso flavors really shine through even with the rich chocolate. it’s my new favorite stl coffee shop.

A charming and relaxing respite in the Soulard neighborhood for anyone who needs a place to work, a public space to read, or just wants to get out of the house. There is an extremely large selection of books (a 28 foot wide bookcase along with several additional bookcases crammed with books) for you to read while you drink your coffee along with a nice collection of Take and Leave a Books. A far cry from the stuffy boutique that was once housed on this corner, may you find this coffee shop just as charming as I do. Oh, the Thai iced coffee was amazing.

I love Protagonist so much! The books, the quirky vibe, the themed drinks, the bonus unexpected things like burritos and ice cream and fun little cards and gifts, and the staff is all great.
