Second Best Coffee

It was not a pleasant experience. The coffee it tasted like any commercial coffee chain I had ever had. Next, the staff was incredibly rude. When we were ordering our drinks the cashier didn’t even say hello and then just assume our size to charge more money. It also seemed very disorganized. One of the associates working was just texting on her phone and looked like she had better things to do then be working there. Never going back!

Such a hip coffee joint! You'd never guess it's part of a little strip mall off of Wornall. This place has such personable staff, and THE BEST coffee and espresso. Their house-made flavors are some of the best flavor combinations I've had. Also, can we get a vote for best decaf roast!? :) It's a thing of beauty when decaf tastes just as good.

We'll be going back. The coffee prices are lower than other coffee shops in town, and the chorizo breakfast burrito was excellent.
They were well staffed for Saturday morning, so service was quick. The music selection was a pleasant surprise. It's nice to hear Tribe and Busta at a coffee shop instead of Radiohead, once in a while.

Everything about this establishment. 👍👍 the coffee. The house made almond milk. The syrups. The scones. The burritos. The jams. The amazing employees.

I walk in and it's not what I thought it would be. Smaller than I thought, but not at all a negative thing. It's got a vibe that's as intoxicating as the coffee. As a mom, I loved seeing other moms come in (toting adorable babies), for as I can only imagine the same reason as me... much needed caffeine, served up in refreshing and new ways. Totally unpretentious, I might add. Staff is knowledgeable, answered my many questions kindly and with ease. I saw many drinks and foods being prepared that I was curious to come back for.

There's a yellow bicycle mounted on the bathroom wall, which I found to be a happy surprise.

My iced mocha was made with the most delicious dark chocolate. I asked for their handcrafted lavender vanilla syrup be added to it, but I couldn't taste it in the drink. I double checked with them to make sure it was added, but they assured me it was and offered to add more. I refused, only because the sweetness of the drink was perfect. I will definitely be going back.

Amazing coffee! Staff is always friendly and warm. Love the hip-hop (where else is KC can I walk in and hear Wu-tang, Tribe, or even Pharcyde!) Prices are very fair for an excellent product and service.

Interesting and challenging seasonal specials. Solid traditional coffee available to-go. Seasonal specials are in-house only so plan to sit in. Delicious small plate food and baked goods. Recently expanded, beautifully crafted interior and very bike-friendly with indoor bike racks.

My favorite coffee shop in Kansas City (and there are many good options). Very welcoming atmosphere, very unpretentious. Great hip-hop playlists. Tables are sturdy and large-- great for studying or working.

Coffee selections include coffees roasted in house and one guest roaster. Drop coffees are brewed via Clever brewer. These are always tasty but they are not the main focus of Second Best. Their espresso drinks are made with a Slayer and are great, as are their specialty / seasonal drinks.

The atmosphere has a cool recycled materials vibe. The lighting is prefect for "screen work", the music resonates a forward moving beat that reminds me of being on the west coast and the coffee drinks are amazing. Great caffeine ride with no crash. I love the place!

Some of the best coffee in KC! And their seasonal menus are creative and delicious. The burritos and scones are amazing as well. I always look forward to a visit when I'm in the area.
