Second Best Coffee

First experience, definitely won’t be my last. Love everything about this cafe.

Got a pour over ($4.50) and had my friend try it as well because I don't always have the best coffee pallete but it was severally watered down. Pretty lame, probably won't give it another shot.

Second Best's name is a lie. They are definitely one of the best and most friendly coffee shops in KC! I never leave without smiling. Nathan, Gentry, and Phil are all super enthusiastic! Wednesday's cupping is a lot of fun, and very educational.

A whole vibe. Staff is always friendly. I Iike how they change up the music. Welcoming...not pretentious. Roll out of bed and pull up. Coffee is legit.

This coffee shop is the real deal! I like coffee a lot but after trying their lavender-honey latte I fell in love with coffee to a whole new level. This place is a super hipster attraction. Really great atmosphere. Good customer service. I would highly recommend Second Best to anyone!

Great place. Nice people. Even with all the precautions because of covid, service was still spot on. My buddy ordered a drink they didn't currently have, and the guy gave him suggestions for similar drinks to substitute. Love the nitro brew, too.

"Second Best" would be good enough but they lie. It is far and away the best presentation of coffee in KC and its surroundings. I wish it weren't because it is ten minutes out of the way for me . I don't know who is really second best but it's no contest.

Edited Review: While this location can be an oasis it can also be a bit of a nightmare! Prepare to be greeted either by attentive and personalized service -OR- loud, repetitive, obnoxious music. If you'd like a cup of coffee brewed individually by hand with welcome customization, bring your headphones or plan your hangout somewhere else. I love that your order is brought to your table and that your table is bussed by friendly and conscientious baristas - except when the baristas don't or won't make the rounds and you have to clean off a table just to find a place to sit down. The coffee is great and I like the varied specials, but I might not come back due to the poor service and awful hospitality space this time around. :(

Small space betrays the huge flavor of the coffee inside. I ordered a pour over, a coffee cake muffin, and the Jack Gusto (pictured). The pour over was excellent, the coffee cake muffin scrumptious, and the Jack Gusto--my god. That is the best coffee cocktail I've ever had. I wish that Second Best coffee would open a location in St. Louis so I could get one of those smooth, deep-flavored drinks every day. Seriously, try the Jack Gusto. I also sampled the nitro before deciding on the Gusto, and it's really unique--tastes like a stout beer and a cold brew had a baby.

My absolute favorite vanilla latte. Their espresso tonics are also always divine. Very well rounded flavors that I honestly could chug.
