Second Best Coffee

Great experience here and would highly recommend! I thought the coffee was delicious. The store was also very interesting and nicely decorated. I got a really good vibe from this place, wasn’t too sure since it was in a strip mall and not your usually third wave coffee tiny house or historical building but it didn’t disappoint. The staff were helpful and the service was fast.

Also a big bonus was that the restrooms were clean and there is free parking!

Pretty good overall. I liked the mocha I got. I appreciate the unique decor of the place and the music.

I didn’t really like the atmosphere all that much - it felt a little cold and less cozy than I would like and it was a little dark. I also wish they didn’t charge so much extra for the alternate milks.

THE BEST COFFEE. I came in a month ago and had the best cortado I’ve ever tasted. Today I came in again and had THE BEST small iced latte ever. I work as a barista and I haven’t felt that way about a latte in a while. The people are super nice also and not at all pretentious or rude. Y’all are doing it right. Keep it up! I will be back very soon. Thank you!

This place is perfect for remote workers - plenty of seating and tons of outlets. The rap music was a contrast to the usual melodic cafe tunes but proved easy enough to tune out for concentration. The vegan burrito doesn’t stand tall without the sauce but their craft coffee beverages are 1000% the draw here. I had the macaan which was unique from any other coffee place in KC.

If there were a 6th star this spot easily earns it.

As an owner I feel it important to be HYPER critical of other coffee shops. And when I travel I make it a point to visit other shops to not only critique my own place but to learn/borrow/steal from others.

Second Best is at the top of my list of places who are absolutely on the edge of defining what's next for coffee.

Rich and bold coffee. Urban vibe coffee shop located in south KCMO in a shopping strip. Friendly staff eager to serve. They roast their own beans which is noted in the delicious coffee I had. Pastries sell out. Less 1 star as my coffee was room temperature. Highly recommend this locally owned business.

Second Best Coffee is a adorable cafe with lots of seating and great music taste! They have unique flavors and seasonal drinks. I tried the Blackberry Juniper latte with oatmilk and the Twist of Thyme fizzy matcha drink. The latte was fantastic and the fizzy drink was very interesting, I sweetened it to my liking but it is a very earthy. My friend really enjoyed her nitro cold brew! The baristas were nice and delivered a drinks quickly. I believe they roast in house and make their syrups as well!

We always enjoy our time when we drop by Second Best. Coffee and food are top notch 👌 nice atmosphere for hanging out / being on your computer as well

Friendly great coffee shop with a beautiful atmosphere. There are plenty of spaces to enjoy your coffee and not feel crowded.

Today was my first time visiting this coffee shop. I asked a few questions about their menu items before ordering (since I am not familiar with it) and the cashier seemed irritated and annoyed. After receiving my vanilla latte which had no coffee in it, but was $7.24 I went up to the counter to see if they could add a little more coffee to it because my latte was literally white (no brown whatsoever). Again, the cashier had a really bad attitude for no reason. I was even polite after receiving my coffee for the 2nd time. When I thanked her co-worker for fixing the coffee, she straight ignored me and walked off with an attitude. This place seems to have predominantly white customers and white staff. I am a mixed race woman who is predominately black... Maybe they have something against black people. I don't know, but I would never go here again if their coffee was the last liquid to drink on earth.. I would rather die of dehydration. Avoid this place if you can. There are wayyy better coffee shops out there with real coffee drinks and better service.
