An 'always stop' coffee shop for me while traveling through Kansas City. Three stories. 1st floor where you can watch them crank out those delicious pastries, 2nd where they fresh roast coffee and the best; the top where you can go outside and have a nice view of the city and enjoy your coffee:) i always look forward to stopping by. Usually order a pourover or an iced latte.

Locally owned coffee shop with the best coffee in KC. Do yourself a favor, stop by and get a pastry and coffee. Prices are the same as SB but better coffee. Support local businesses it really does matter.

Best place to get coffee in KC. A must stop and see.

Coffee was great (I don’t drink coffee but my friend does and he liked it). Vibe was immaculate with tons of seating, great plant life, and floor to ceiling windows with great natural light.

They apparently "don't cut" bread. They sell bread that is pretty good but they won't cut it into slices for you if you buy it. They also don't provide you with any way to cut it yourself so there's really no way to eat it there.
Probably one of the stupidest things I've ever heard for a bakery to have a non bread cutting policy.

Nice place. Aesthetic is marvelous. Can’t believe there’s three floors. Wow that’s amazing. Plenty of seating. So cute and awesome that they show the people making coffee and stuff. Very neat👌. It’s kind of a “basic” place though just because everyone goes here lol but still cute. Coffee was great☕️. Got the grain bowl🍚. Flavoring was great except it was weird because it was a huge bowl that wasn’t filled. Portion was huge. I couldn’t finish in one sitting. But just funny the bowl is so much bigger lol. 😂

I love having breakfast at Messenger Coffee! The staff is always kind and attentive - I certainly feel welcomed when I visit!

First thing we noticed are there are a lot of flies near the open pastry case. Saw one on the pastries. We had the filled pastry, salmon tartine, and french toast. The quality of pastry is good, but the other food is OK. The flavor aren't too balanced. Their service is the WORST. The ladies behind the cashier counters are rude, unfriendly, and condescending. My husband wanted a pour over, but they denied it and said drip is the same. The coffee ended up being bitter and not of the same quality of pour over, plus we paid pour over price. When our drinks came up, we didn't know that was our order because they put the wrong name on our cups. Why ask our names if they don't even care. The service made the overall experience outright unpleasant.

Visiting fam in KC, decided to try this coffee shop. LOVED IT! Coffee, food, staff, environment, all of it was just amazing. So great we went back again during my visit. Highly recommend.

Messenger Coffee was a wonderful experience. The moment you step inside you know it's going to be a good time and great quality. The openness and brightness of each floor really makes you feel welcome and not feel how busy the place really is all around you. The smell of the bakery and coffee is enticing and makes you want to try everything you see or smell. The Baristas are well informed and Ibis employees seem to really enjoy doing what they do and trying to incorporate local grain to their recipes. It's fun to see the roastery and flour mill that are on the second and first floor. Make sure you go to the top floor and go outside to take in the view, don't worry... There's a fire there to keep you warm.
