Arguably one of the most popular coffee shops in Kansas City is the Messenger located in the Crossroads District. The Messenger is very clean and sparkly! The pastries are baked right in front of you which leaves your mouth watering to try just about everything.
The menu goes past just your typical breakfast items. You can even get salads or a sandwich if you stay working remote at the Messenger past the typical morning/breakfast hours.
There are a few different spots you can choose to work from within the Messenger. The bottom floor is a great spot to work, but if you have calls to take, the first floor might be a little too loud. You can go upstairs to work with a little bit more peace OR you can sit outside on the rooftop patio to drink your coffee with a view. I love working outside on their rooftop patio because of the beautiful KC views.
What to Order: I order the Ham & Cheese Croissant and a Mocha Latte

Cute coffee shop with long wait lines. I've passed by this place two times and passed due to long lines that wrapped around the counter, but decided to stick it out for a drink. I ordered a seasonal drink with strong orange flavorings that made it too acidic for my liking. However, the service was wonderful by a staff that is being worked and the shop is cute with three floors and a rooftop. It is a great place to order a drink with friends or study before class.

I was visiting Kansas City these weekend and this was our afternoon coffee stop. I was very impressed as soon as I walked in, as it is an open space with three different floor. The coffee was very good, and they had a variety of different drinks and treats available. We were a little bummed that they were out of cinnamon rolls, but that just goes to show how high in demand they are! This is a must-visit place if you’re in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a cafe called "Messenger Coffee." From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and welcoming smiles from the staff. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with plenty of natural light streaming in through the large windows.
I was impressed by the extensive menu of specialty coffees and teas, as well as the delicious-looking pastries and sandwiches on display. I ended up ordering a mocha and a gluten free pastry, and I have to say, both were absolutely divine. The mocha was made with expert precision and had the perfect balance of espresso and steamed oat milk. The gluten free pastry was very good and not overly sweet.
What really made the experience stand out, however, was the attentive and friendly service from the staff. They made sure to check in on me regularly to see if I needed anything, and they even offered suggestions on other menu items I might enjoy. They were very friendly and made me feel at home.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Messenger Coffee. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the service was unparalleled. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a cozy and inviting spot to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea. I definitely recommend eating out on the patio, on the third floor if the weather is nice.
It's a great spot to have a meeting, spend time with friends and family, or even to just sit and read a book by yourself. They have a comfortable seating area and perfect lighting to accommodate the need. It's a cafe that would never disappoint and I'll be back soon.

Great coffee shop with a cool ambiance. They roast their own beans on site and have a bakery on site for their pastries and breads. The first floor has a nice area to watch the bakery. The second floor has their roaster and places to sit and work or eat. The third floor has more work area and an outside rooftop patio with nice views.

Wonderful coffee shop. Must visit for coffee aficionados. Had a great pour over - came at the right temperature (often they get to you in a lukewarm condition) and a croissant. My partner enjoyed their ciabatta sandwich and though the bread looked really dark, the texture of the crust was perfect and had a great bite to it.
Haven’t had a chance to try their breads, but they look really good.

We were headed out of KC and wanted to get breakfast to go - someone told us to head here for the ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. This was the best recommendation we could have had! The people were super friendly. Both the pastries (flakey croissants, decadent brownie) and the breakfast sandwich (that bread! Those flavors!) were amazing. We'll definitely return when visiting Kansas City.

The blondie I had was excellent. The coffee was a trendy cup of coffee. It's got lots of natural light, but the seating was to fit an aesthetic, not really comfortable. Overall it was fine. I came looking for a bakery and was disappointed at the limited options. The building is older, the floors are worn and the grout is so aged it looks. The barista was a bit too cool for school. I wouldn't necessarily go back unless I needed a place to work for a while and it was nearby.

I would give Messenger 6 ⭐️ if I could. The potato hash breakfast and breakfast tacos were delightful. The iced vanilla latte and matcha were also great. The atmosphere is relaxing and bright. We got 4 pastries for the road… all amazing. I would go here every week if I lived in town.

Incredible spot! I ordered from the holiday menu and my drink was delicious. There are so many lovely places to sit and relax or work at this coffee shop! I would love to visit again.
