City Market Coffee is a beautiful gem of the Kansas City coffee scene. The owners and staff are kind, professional, and engaged in creating a warm and welcoming community. The food is delicious and the service is great! We'll always be back because it feels like home. Only love for this place!

Has great deserts, really recommend the pop tarts

GOTTA TRY THEIR WARM SCONES yummm. Usually a wait bit they go pretty quickly and you should never be in a hurry at City Market anyways. Limited seating. I always grab it as soon as I get there. Cappuccinos are good but not as strong as I like, would recommend and extra expression shot and some vanilla flavor.

So, I had to edit my previous five star review. This place has gone downhill dramatically in the last couple of months. The majority of their old staff is gone. I don't know if they quit or got fired. The quality of food and coffee has suffered immensely.
As of recently, I was told by another customer as I was walking out that my sandwich had been dropped on the floor and served to me anyway.
I'm very aware of the struggles that restaurant workers go through at this time but this is just carelessness.

Good coffee and really good breakfast bagel sandwiches. The bagels were fresh made and probably one of the better bagels I've had in a long time. Loved the fresh made veggie cream cheese. Homemade pop tarts seemed to be really popular with the locals. I was regretting not bringing my wallet since I ordered and paid ahead online. Highly recommend if you're in KC.

You will not find better coffee than this. Their lattes are unlike any latte I've ever had. Sooo thick and creamy. Also try the pastries! Homemade pop tarts! No way! But yes and they are good. There is a spiral staircase in the back that leads up to more seating and its super cute. If you're at the River Market, get some coffee from here for sure.

I’ve never been an avid coffee drinker until I started coming here. Coffee used to be something I drank occasionally when friends asked me to meet at a coffee shop but since I’ve tried their espresso I’ve been coming here a few times a week for over 3 years now. But what really makes the place special is the service and the people. The owner is always there working hard whether she is roasting beans or carrying 150lb bags of beans and supplies down to their little storage area underneath. She knows most of her regulars by name and she puts a lot of passion into her work and into the relationships here. The baristas are incredible as well! Many times I will walk in and be on the phone not quite ready to place my order but when I get to the counter they have already prepared my drink because they’ve memorized what I like to get! The space it self is so cool. There is a spiral staircase that leads to a small room on the second level that has a few desks and a couch for customers to enjoy while they drink their coffee. It has windows that look out over the small park inside river market. I should probably not share this on here cause I feel like it’s my own secret little nook to catch up on emails and reading but it’s truly one of my favorite spots here in Kansas City as I’ve lived here for over 30 years. It’s great to see a local business thrive in the middle of a really special part of Kansas City.

I love this coffee shop! I used to walk here all of the time when I lived downtown. I'd walk here and do my homework in the morning up in their loft. I eventually started talking to Nic as she roasted the coffee. It was one of my happy places downtown I would highly recommend it they are also one of the few coffee shops that roast their own coffee.

I love this place. They've been roasting coffee for the better part of 20 years and it shows. If you catch them on an early Monday morning, you can see the big roasting machine working, and the beans roasting smell oddly of popcorn! Of course the coffee is good, and the staff is great. I once ordered a Hippie because I felt like trying something new, but when I didn't like it I went back up to the counter and asked if I could buy my usual Spicy Mocha instead, the woman at the counter kindly made it for me gratis. Of course I was very grateful. It's things like this that make a local business great and you feel good supporting them. 10/10.
