Hands down the best spot in Starkville to get breakfast. Loved the biscuits and gravy. The western inlet and the 2 egg platter was great as well. Wonderful service. We will be back!

Everything here was nice!! I have been wanting to come here for some time but just never had the time to. I purchased the pancakes with duck butter and sausage biscuit.. everything was good! Only thing I will say is I wish there was more duck butter to come with (in a small container) since you have to order it separately. I ate the sausage biscuit for breakfast the next day and was delish! I intend to return when there are less crowds. My total was around ~$15.

Went here, while here, because it was highly recommended. They were serving from both the breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered breakfast food and my cousin ordered meat and vegetables. I only ate about 4 bites of the pancakes, because they were so heavy. The grits were so bland that even salt, pepper, and butter didn't improve the flavor. I did eat the smoked sausage. I pushed my plate to the side and ordered two vegetables that I knew were good, because my cousin had them. The waitress never asked why I didn't eat the breakfast I had ordered. That surprised me. And worst of all, the bathroom was nasty!

Service was quick and attentive. I had the famous duck butter, delicious. While this is not the place for large groups; it is perfect for a breakfast date or a small group of friends.

Came here only if you are white people where you will be treated as normal people. Otherwise, go to McDonald that you don’t need to wait for one hour after ordered while your next table came 30 mins later and finished their lunch before you got food.
Below is the reply to the response from the owner:
Not only were the customers next to us treated promptly, but several other groups of people as well, while we were completely neglected. You can argue that different preparation times are needed, but does it really take half an hour to refill a drink? I am not blaming the waiter, but it would make a significant difference if you could focus half of your efforts on improving actual service instead of harrassing customers who give negative feedback. Thank you for your attention.

First time for me. I had the Chicken and Dumplings (wonderful), mashed potatoes with gravy and field peas. The food was above and beyond what I was expecting, but isn't that what we are always looking for. Staff was super friendly and my glass was never empty. Keep the food coming, yall were great. Hope to be back soon.

A longer than ordinary service from order to table, when I attempted to leave, the short older gentleman told me it had only been 33 minutes since I ordered the pancakes and hash browns. During our wait, I saw several tables with three or more individuals get seated, served, and pay for their meals. Rude/defensive/oblivious

One of the busy places in Starkville where you might need to wait for getting a table. Their brunch menu is good ( I have not visited for dinner yet) so as the food quality. might complain about the portion size though. The place in the downtown has its own old vibe that you would love to dine in. I would definitely recommend this place.

Filthy & full of cockroaches! Yes cockroaches crawling all over the place.
Sanitation is non existent. The bathrooms are disgusting. Everything is disgusting .
Eat somewhere else. I’m surprised this place is as busy as it it and not shut down !!! I almost lost everything in my sole. I would’ve taken photos but I left my phone in my vehicle. I don’t normally post terrible reviews but this place is top of the charts for me.Regardless if the building is old or not. It’s filthy. The food is not as good as the owners think. The customer service is terrible. Due to being comfortable with the way they do things. There is no effort. None. I am sure they will fire back at me for this post but that is fine. We can talk in person if need be. I will be happy to point out the filth.

The food is great. The wait is worth it. But the people are what make this place truly special. My daughter goes to State. The school gave us vouchers to eat lunch "try a local restaurant" during orientation. She'd heard about this place from her orientation leader and wanted to try it. We had no problem getting a table and ordering our food. After the meal, we went up to the cash register to pay. The owner checked us out. He was so nice and put this momma's mind at ease. He told me not to worry about sending my child far away - that Starkville is a good town and that they all take care of each other. Then, he told my daughter that if she needed anything, to please come by and ask for him and he'd help point her in the direction of whatever she was looking for.
I will support this business every time I'm in town.
