Probably one of the best coffee shops ever existed. Very friendly staff. We got turnover cold brew and dirty chai tea latte and it was amazing! The turnover was so fresh!

This is hands down, my favorite vegan restaurant in a hundred mile radius!!! I have become obsessed with the Banh Mi, aye-yi-yi!! Now that I know something so delicious and murder-free exists I just can’t stop putting it in my mouth ahhh. There’s such a delight of various fresh flavors that come to light in that sandwich, I get mine with the “pork that’s not pork” and all the fixins and jalapeños, mmm!!! Big enough sandwich for a snack later, right on!!
Oh, and if a little of your sandwich falls out.. mmm… scoop it up with a chip!!! Drool.

It is one of the best donuts places that I’ve ever been to. The vibe, the donuts, the drinks, and the people over there. It’s a 10/10.

Amazing vegan food! Love this little dive. Only downside is the parking and the AC.
I've been to restaurants around the globe and this is honestly one of the top 10. It's certainly the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to.

It's called Old Abe, but its namers could have stayed with that President's traditional nickname, "Honest", because the coffee beverages they serve here are nothing but. This is the stuff one imagines the log cabin Republican puttin back after a hard afternoon of jacking lumber. Back when coffee had teeth. When men were *men*, women had biceps, and newborns wrestled to the ground the elk that supplied the leather for their own moccasin booties.
I had the War Eagle (mostly war), and my partner had the Iced Zumbro. I find myself capitalizing the names not because they're names, but out of awe and fear. I am wired.
This vegan hangout spot is a tiny little house, with nooks and private-feeling crannies. You can tuck into comfy chairs in the back room or crowd onto the bench in the yard with friends. There's a play room for the children. The menu is written in chalk on a wall.
Where s*** gets real is in the book room. Yes, books! There's a whole room of books, and they might even let you borrow one if you ask. Comic books, anarchist primers, an illustrated book of women scientists. There's even an 8 track cassette for those of us old enough to remember voting for Abe.
You've gotta check this place out. It's perfect for your next underground-anything meeting or casual hangout. I cannot comment on the food because I didn't try any, but if the beverages are any indication you won't be left wanting more.

Absolutely blown away by how good the food and service was!! I'll be making this a regular stop when I visit the Rochester area! 11/10. I wish I could visit here every day!

I decided to visit Old Abe Coffee Shop while I was visiting Rochester as the reviews online were favorable and because they allowed dogs. Please keep in mind they do not allow dogs inside while you order; however, when we visited the lady mentioned they do not allow pets because there are kids in here.
We ordered coffee and donuts. Donuts were tasty, however the 4 types I tried were are all the same base and just had different toppings. The coffee was watery not worth the price. Considering the underwhelming food/coffee and rude cashier, I don’t think I would feel comfortable visiting when I am in Rochester again.

I went in with high expectations due to a friend’s recommendation. However, I thought it fell short for the following reasons. 1. I was not satisfied with my meal based on taste, at all. 2. Hard to find the name from the outside due to being blocked by a large colored planter. 3. I ate in my car outside because the inside was neither a nice design, comfortable, or inviting. I’ll give it points for the fun Dinosaur children’s game. However, I’m not a kid and the place seemed like a daycare decor. I was expecting something up to the level of sophistication that Abe and his food is. I had the “ham and cheese” neither of which tasted anything like real ham or cheese, and instead like salty nacho cheese at its finest, and the “Herbavorious butcher meet” was salty, and gave off an Oscar Meyer bologna reminiscence, only not as good in taste or texture. Sweet potato chips lacked in seasoning. I’ve had better (served with honey mustard spicy lava sauce at another place). Of course honey is off limits here. Of note: The lid on my Vietnamese iced coffee came off easily. A near miss for a big spill in the car.
I’m not on board with this hipster joint. Fix the decor and stick to coffee. If it was more like the old Starbucks design used to be with couches and a coffee house vibe, open and inviting, I would be back to give the bahn mi a try. Not likely otherwise, unless my lactose intolerant friend is in tow.

Cute little place. Can't miss the red, white, and blue paint job. Happy Cow approved. Had an awesome brown rice bowl and Vietnamese iced coffee. Not a whole bunch of indoor seating but there is a patio as well.
Parking is on the street with one disabled parking spot on the lawn/lot in front of the bldg.
We will definitely be back. $$
