Abe's was recommended to us so we stopped in for coffee while on a casual bike ride. After riding around a little more we went back there for lunch. The menu is just about all vegan, but don't let that stop you from eating there if you don't understand exactly what vegan food is. You'll find something. This is great coffee. I tried the cold brew on nitro and it was really good.

Love this place! If I could give more stars, I would. I walked over a mile in single digit wind chills to go there and it was worth every step. First, I walked in about 10 minutes before closing (because I didn't check the hours... they close at 7) so I felt kind of guilty but they were so accommodating. I ordered the catfish sandwich and butternut squash soup. The soup was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The catfish sub was amazing. Flavors were spot on. If the catfish is on the menu, you must order it!!! The owner is a cool dude. He actually sat and chatted with me, after I had eaten, for about 15 minutes. We talked about the restaurant's history and about his food. I went back the next day for lunch and had a pastry, which was so light and flaky, and the banh mi bowl, which was light and fresh... perfect for lunch. I wish I was in town longer so I could've went back again. I'll definitely stop there whenever I'm in Rochester and it's a must go place for anyone in town. These are the places you want to support! Skip the chains and big restaurants and go to Abe's!!!

We had the citrus rib bowl and the bahn mi bowl. I cannot say how good this place is. The food is savory and absolutely is the best vegan meal I have had in a restaurant so far. It is a very small place, with almost no where to park on a busy day, but a little walk to the best and currently only true vegetarian/vegan place in the Rochester metro is entirely worth it! I really hope they succeed and the knowledge that plant based foods are easily as good and better than any processed animal based foods. This is coming from a complete omnivore. Also, don't let the name coffee shop mislead you, the food is where this place shines!

I really don't get to write a lot of good reviews about restaurants in Minnesota but Old Abe's is YUMMY. We're pescatarians and had the Bahn Mi and salmon seaweed rolls. I seriously couldn't tell there wasn't salmon in it! The customer service was some of the best we've had. Super friendly! Very welcoming atmosphere. The only thing I didn't like is that we stopped in on a Monday to see they were closed so I didn't get my BLT fix -- but I definitely understand everyone needs a few days off!

Food is so good. Fun to try new things each time. Springaroto was my new try this week, and at least one member of my family had order envy after trying it.

A big shout out to Old Abe Coffee Shop. The Bahn Mi sandwich was amazing. The French bread was hard and crunchy on the outside. Soft and delicious on the inside. I didn’t even missed the “meat”. Awesome job guys. I will definitely be seeing you again!

Fabulous coffee shop and vegan food! First time visiting from out of town. They have a very friendly and welcoming staff. I wish I lived in Rochester so I can go here more often.

The food portions and quality are excellent. Always friendly service. Zumbro (hot or iced) is my favorite coffee drink. Love the cozy atmosphere and community engagement this place offers.

The BEST vegan restaurant in Rochester.
We've visited Abe's multiple times since our discovery of them last month. Every vegan item on the menu is delicious. Our personal favorite is the poke` bowl with the spicy 'salmon'. Our kids love the grilled cheeze, how Abe specially prepares the Daiya cheese to give it it's flavor is a delicious mystery.
This vegan landmark is now our go-to dining establishment!
