I've been to tons of coffee shops in my life, throughout New York, Portland, California and I got to tell you, Backstory cafe is top notch. Great tasting quality, and pastries. Beautiful design, and a wonderful place to do work or lounge. If you've never been to Minneapolis before, start you day here in a beautiful way.

The space is stunning. I went late in the day and there were no food options but thats what comes with showing up after 1pm. My maple oat latte was very good. The service was great. Back to the space that shop is in, its huge and furnished well. However, because it big & tall and fully open, it is also very noisy. People who can have sensory overload issues could easily become anxious here. I really enjoyed stopping in, and would possibly do some work in the space, but would definitely bring a set of earbuds/head phones.

Really fun coffee spot! Friendly staff, great coffee and cool vibes. It gets really busy and can get loud but lots of different seating and lounging areas to fit everyone needs, wether you are there to work/study or just relax.

One of the best cappuccinos I’ve had
this winter. Backstory does a good job roasting and makes good espresso drinks. The lobby of the Duffey (where this BCR is) is a cool place to hang out. Lots of space, huge vaulted ceilings. It was packed when I was there. Highly recommended. There is the other BCR in St Paul, which has much less inside seating

Coffee is bland and a bit acidic. Pastries are delicious. Relaxed ambiance and quiet enough to study or have a conversation with a friend. Light and bright with lots of natural light.

Absolutely gorgeous space, and very mediocre coffee.
Adequately cordial baristas who helped me quickly and answered some but not all of my questions with ease. Good food options, I had a great croissant, and several of the other pastries looked excellent.
Coffee that’s a bit off (not entirely clean, slightly nutty). But my cappuccino was steamed to the right temperature, which honestly rarely happens. (There are too many too-hot cappuccinos out there.)
Oh, one more thing. I circled the building twice in the freezing cold because they didn’t have their sandwich board out. Not a good look, because it’s tricky to find.

Cool environment! Coffee is excellent with plenty of different options. Some light pastries if you are hungry but nothing super substantial. Their ham and cheese croissant is excellent though. Perfect place to study or work. Couches all over the place for relaxing. Dog friendly too

Fabulous spot for coffee. I love that they have several savory pastries. My only beef is that parking is difficult, especially when it's snowy. Street parking at meters in downtown Minneapolis can be tricky. Loved the spot.

An absolutely stunning space. With some of the best coffee in the twin cities. Come for five minutes or an hour. It’s perfect.
