With few dining options available at the time, I was thrilled to find the Angry Trout! Very welcoming host and fast service complimented the amazing grilled herring and trout chowder! Nice, clean restaurant and great amenities!

Amazing food and sauces. Loved the fried herring and the bison dinner. The tarter sauce, the maple chili sauce and the chimichurri are wow on all levels.

The food was absolutely amazing as well as the service. Our waitress was great and friendly. This restaurant really reminded me of back home as I'm from the East coast/ New England area and it made me a little homesick. Overall great restaurant and food and the view is gorgeous. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!

This adorable cafe deserves extra stars. If there’s only one place you go to eat in Grand Marais, let it be this one! From the waiting area to the outdoor seating, everything is perfectly designed and decorated to invite you in and fill you with tranquility and peace. Listen to the sounds of seagulls in the marina while you gaze out toward the lighthouse and watch the sunlight dance off the water.
Oh not to mention the food is simply scrumptious! We both had the whitefish (fresh from Lake Superior) sandwich with chips and pickled cucumber slices. It was amazing. Service was perfectly balanced and prompt. This is certainly an establishment I will visit every single time I’m in town.

Grilled whitefish sandwich was delicious. Cute, cozy, great view of the harbor and lake. Lots of local touches.

Great views and pretty good food overall - the fish sandwich was great! If we had to critique anything, it would be that the host had a bit of an snobby attitude that you might expect at a stuffier establishment.
There was ample outdoor seating on the deck at 3pm, but he made a group of 2 wait to be seated because he didn’t want to seat them at a 4-top. Somewhat silly during a slower time of day, as the tables were all still empty when we left. Don’t let that deter you though, simply ignore him as we did.

Food is amazing! I love that there's plenty of vegetarian options. I just wish they had a couple cocktail options because there's only beer and wine. Be sure to get there early because it was at least an hour wait on a Saturday night.

Wife and I both had fish dinners. Excellent dishes. Finished with some kind of swedish chocolate cake ( Kladdkaka) that was outstanding!

Some unique options on a relatively small menu. Service was a little slow and the wait was terribly long but that's mostly due to it being one of the only restaurants still open in town due in part to COVID, road construction and labor shortage hits. Indoor dining has nice views if you don't want to sit outside.
Food was presented well and had good flavor. The house salad was large and impressive. The fried fresh fish had a good coating. The fettuccine in butter and garlic may seem simple but was quite tasty. Good combo with the salad.

Delicious dinner with spectacular view. Had the local fish dinner and the bison filet. Both were delish and filling. Service was quick and staff were friendly. Definitely worth stopping by when up in Gran Marais.
