Stopped by on our way to Canada. Outstanding food and service. Even make Their own cola . If you like fish you must stop.

Excellent food, and service. Highly recommend the fish and chips. They source local ingredients whenever possible, and utilize local artists and craftspeople for their dishes.

The fish is worth the hype and the wait. I’d heard great things about the Angry Trout from a friend from Grand Marais and it did not disappoint! Got the fish & chips on a busy Saturday, options were herring or cod (but they ran out of herring by 7:30pm) so I had cod. DELICIOUS. I may have appreciated it more because I’d been hiking and camping in gloomy 50° weather for 2 days, but this fish was so hot and flaky and lightly battered. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they split a surcharge (aka forced tipping) across all employees. Does that mean your server may be an 18yo boy dressed in gym shorts? Yes. Did he do a fine job regardless of age and attire? Also yes. Oh, and staff were wearing masks to protect against COVID transmission. In May 2022 in Grand Marais, MN. Not what I expected, but much appreciated. Prices are a tiny bit high, but worth it for the focus on local, fresh ingredients. My total for a local beer and fish & chips was about $28 after taxes and tip, etc.
Sadly, it was too cold for the patio to be open as it looked great, but no one can predict the weather in May in MN.

Loved it. Food is great. Atmosphere is great. It's our favorite place.

Great place to eat with a wonderful view out across the harbour. Freshest ingredients that you could ask for, & options for non-seafood eaters (me, for example).
Brought here by relatives who eat here whenever they're in the area, not hard to see why. If you like seafood give it a try, there may well be other good seafood restaurants around, I wouldn't know, but I can't imagine that there's a better one in the area.

Good selection of food, all natural. Always good service and beautiful seating right on Lake Superior. Gets very busy on the weekends and waiting to use the outside bathrooms is a bit of a bummer. Still, you can't beat the beautiful view. I also really love their selection of teas.

An experience well worth avoiding. The initial impression is that customers are an inconvenience. Start with the giant notice that a 20% tip is mandatory but becomes property of the management to be distributed (apparently at management's discretion) among employees who weren't even working during your service. Then encounter the hostess who stated that if we find deck seating too cold we would not be allowed back into the inside dining room, which was less than half full. This establishment seems to have forgotten that it is engaged in a customer service business.

This attitude might be tolerated (barely) if the food was good. It was not. The fried fish was overdone and dry, as was the fried chicken. The waffle fries were soggy and limp and the tartar sauce was tasteless.

A stark and unpleasant contrast with the remainder of tourist-friendly Grand Marais.

Amazing spot right on the lake. Menu had so many options!!! Most fish is wild caught locally…..
