Charlie's Cafe

I thought this was a great diner. I think they'd benefit by converting the bar area into a full on malt parlour or by adding a line cook there, in the line of a greasy spoon. They place was packed at 6pm on a Saturday which is a testament to local traffic by the kitchen had a hard time keeping up.
My daughter ordered the "Adult Mac N cheese" and she asked, 'what makes it adult?" To which the response was 'portion size'. It was boxed mac and cheese disappointingly. Otherwise, the food was good though I'd recommend you stick to skilleted breakfast items. Rueben sandwiches typically are a telltale sign of kitchen quality. I had the Reuben Sandwich and was very solid execution.
The overall decor needs a refit.

Great place off Hwy 94 - food comes out fast - friendly waitress that filled up our travel mugs with coffee.

Service was excellent. Ordered a Cabin burger which comes with a fried egg. The burger was a little overcooked and dry and I wish the egg was overeasy instead of overhard. Overall good flavor and portions.

Great selection of food. A place to park my Big Rig. Good home cooking.

My wife's family has been going here for over 30 years. One of the "Best" breakfast places and dont forget those Carmel rolls. Under new local owners, doing a great job.

Solid cafe food at reasonable prices. Charlie's is a Minnesota tradition. Stop in for a meal if you are looking for a small town slice of Americana and a good meal.
