Caribou Coffee is a Minnesota staple! All the menu items are great and I enjoy the selection for breakfast foods, especially the mushroom spinach souffle. The Detroit Lakes location always makes my drinks correctly. Obviously you should expect to wait if you're getting here during peak coffee times but the wait is tolerable even when it's busy. The only thing that would make it much better would be if the breakfast items were made to order (but that's a suggestion for the bigwigs at Caribou HQ for all their locations). ☕

I am a big Caribou coffee fan and have the opportunity to visit many locations. I love their coffee, and in this case the coffee was equally fantastic.
Most all locations I would rate much higher, but this location is lacking. I was at the Detroit Lakes location twice in three days and spent about two hours there each day, and in both cases I had the exact same experience.
First, the staff Friday afternoon seemed uninterested and short. On Sunday morning the "older" staff - two women who appeared to be in their 60's(?) were rude and discourteous. No smiles, no hello, no your welcome, just an unhappy look and that beamed grumpiness!
Second, this place has flies. Not only were they buzzing me, but I noticed the same with other customers as well. It wasn't barn like, but I venture to say that there were 10-15 bouncing all around the store and customers. I even heard the older crabby staff taking about the flies as they were landing on their work stations.
Because they are 0-2, I will not visit this location when I'm in the area and would recommend that staff be offered "happy" training after you hang fly strips from the ceiling.

Only bad experiences here. If I could give a zero star I would. I spent 30 minutes waiting for an item and no one told me they were out of. Then I ordered two large mochas and they gave me two mediums. Maybe they’re understaffed but with every order it’s something

We have been to this store several times and the experience is always terrible. I’m giving it two stars as the drinks are good when we get them, but the experience is awful. Despite other Caribou’s being able to understand my order, this store always struggles to get it correct, with me often having to spend 5-7 minutes just ordering. If you go through the drive thru, plan on spending at least 15 minutes waiting as I have never spent less then 15 waiting but have spent up to 25. Unfortunately, front of house is never any faster. We’ve ended up using order ahead as it seems to be the easiest option. I’ve been to many other Caribou’s and never had this poor of an experience on such a consistent basis.

Going to Caribou always feels like home. I'm a Minnesota girl, living in Texas. The drinks and food is always fresh.

The end results were great. The customer service not so much but you can't let that ruin a Caribou kind of day.

I once ordered a blended caramel high rise from the drive through, lid wasn’t even remotely on just sat on top, with coffee coming all down the sides & of course no napkins offered either. I also ordered the iced pomegranate drink & it tasted like I only got coconut milk, absolutely no flavor. When I am spending $6+ on a drink, I would like it to be made correctly. I don’t know what it is about this specific location, but drink & customer service training needs a few more dollars spent on.

Probably the worst Caribou location ever. I order the same drink every time, at every location I’ve been to. The drink is rarely the same when I order it at this location, most times the caramel isn’t even stirred into the drink, it’s just sitting at the bottom. Not to mention, my price for the same drink varies. Sometimes they run out of straws, sometimes it’s large cups. (No biggie, I can handle compromise typically). This morning it was caramel. How does one store continually not learn to order essentials properly? This morning, I opted for our local Barista where not only did they have all of the essentials, but it was also less expensive. I will, however, still return because I still believe one day they’ll get it together!!

The first coffee I had there was a vanilla cooler, it was SO overly sweet it wasn’t enjoyable at all and then the second I had was supposed to be an iced mocha but the coffee was disgustingly watered down and the barista didn’t mix the chocolate in. Honestly don’t wast you money and also the price for a small drink in outrageous high at $4.89!

Awesome service and servers! It was very busy when I was there and the team all moved and flowed with each other so well in a very cramped area behind the bar, and got us our drinks VERY fast! The main space was a little small for covid, but that was due to the construction of the building. Loved it!
