Great coffee! I finally wandered in after passing through Nickels Arcade many of times, and was glad I did. The person at the counter was kind and gladly answered my questions about all the options. Price was same or less than Starbucks but better taste -- much less bitter :)
The best coffee shop in town. Great multi-roaster, pour over and iced coffee menu (changes frequently) As does the espresso. Well trained , friendly and knowledgeable staff. A warm and bustling atmosphere filled with interesting people.
De. Lic. Ious. Amazing coffee. Probably the best cup I've experienced since Intelligentsia. If you are a drinker of delicious, boutique coffee, preferring the tender loving care that comes from a pour over or dialed-in espresso drinks, this is your spot. They also feature a wide variety of boutique "coffees made from our friends" section and brewing equipment for sale. Ann Arbor is fortunate to have them.
I rated this place five stars awhile back, but, being Comet, I really felt it deserves its own review. Put simply, Comet sets the bar to which I will compare every other coffee experience I have. It's just that good. They've usually got three or four different single origin coffees available to choose from plus an espresso. Every time I come here to try coffee, it's been so good-tasting and memorable that I would have bought the bag of beans right then and there if I thought I had the right equipment or skills to make it at home. (Please, teach me your ways!) I tried once, coming in because I remembered one of the best coffees I'd had (I think it was the Aramo, from Ritual?) and the barista working managed to find a bag of it in the back for me when I asked about it, but unfortunately, I couldn't recreate the Comet magic at home. Aside from their fantastic pour overs, I had the single greatest espresso I've ever had here as well. I don't remember where it was from, but this had to be the most flavorful, least bitter or sour, most amazingly delicious little cup of coffee I've had, and trust me, I've had a lot. Not to mention the delicious pastries and really interesting teas they also carry, if that's your thing. The design of the space is really clean and cool, and they've got some really interesting custom-made furniture in there. Nickels Arcade is just such a great location for this type of shop. Do yourself a favor, and don't get your coffee to go-- just let it cool down a little, sip slowly, and enjoy the atmosphere ---but that might be hard-- it's a small space, and it's popular for a reason. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time here, though. They've got wi-fi, but no outlets if your battery is running low, and I don't blame them. This isn't really a place to plunk down and study for a few hours, due to its sheer tininess, and I think they have a few laptop-free tables to discourage specifically this. Besides, how could you even focus with coffee this good?
One of the best things about comet coffee is how great the baristas are. They are kind, knowledgeable, and above all EFFICIENT at what they do! Every drink I've had here tasted wonderful and was professionally made.
Great coffee but very, very overpriced. A lackluster seating area, but they're typically posting good music. Nickels arcade is a really cool location, worth visiting regardless of your coffee preferences.
Update: The owner reached out to me and assured me that this has been taken care of and is not the norm. We'll be back
I used to really love going here. The coffee is always top notch. But I was disappointed during my last visit to receive a large side of judgement and attitude with my drink order. My wife, 2yr old daughter and I stopped by for some coffee on a chilly afternoon. The barista made our drinks and my wife asked for a sleeve for her cup as her hands are delicate. The barista rolled her eyes saying we don't have those. So we asked for a second cup. Well that didn't go well. We received a long stare and the cup with a comment of "make sure you put this in a compost bin when your done". It may not come across as the worst comment, but in the moment and even now we felt unwelcome and disrespected.
Very good service. Workers were kind. I only got a water, which was free, but my friend got a pour over drink and enjoyed it. Good use of space for a small location.
The coffee was really good and has opened my eyes to the wondeful world of gourmet coffee. The atmosphere is funky and fun. The staff were engaging and entertaining. Very good place for quick, tasty coffee.

What a wonderful little spot!
The Açaí bowl and poke were delicious.
The place is small with only 2 indoor tables.
The staff was friendly and welcoming.
Very easy to eat here with dietary restrictions.
Go check it out!
