I went here and I was disappointed, the food desperately need salt and was very bland. My cappuccino was huge meaning that I couldn't taste the espresso and the milk was scalding hot meaning that the milk was burned and had no sweetness. Just to make the whole thing a little worse I repeatedly saw the baristas forgetting to purge the steam wand which was gross because that means the milk residue was left inside the steam wand.

I'll spare you from the full story, but very rude staff. Incidentally someone should tell the staff just because someone is in the bathroom they haven't gone deaf and can hear what's said in the kitchen through the thin walls. I'll tip and buy expensive coffee elsewhere after that incident. other than that it's a nice place, and it's a shame they made me feel unwelcome.

Great coffee. Top quality pastries, so good if you go later in the day, your selection will be limited. Go anyway!

Love the food and the drinks. Not too many seating options though and the bathroom line can be long. Also, they only have free WiFi specific days. If I remember correctly, they don't offer WiFi on the weekends.

First of all, there are such things as dehumidifiers. I don’t know what the deal with the steamed up windows. It’s like a jungle inside. Food is bad, just bad. Baked goods are very good but so are most places in noho. The one thing that I do love is the stout milkshake.

I've been going to this place for years. It's got a wipe selection of coffee, teas, beers/wine and even some good eats (patties, soups, sandwiches, salads). Very vegetarian, gluten free friendly. Meat selection is small.

The breakfast sandwiches with the rooster sauce and homemade roll. I dream about this winning combo. Damn. Getting one tomorrow!

Great breakfast sandwiches and coffee, tea, ect. Tasty vegetarian and gluten free options (highly recommend the double choc cookie).
They also offer alcohol, beer and wine only, but it's a good selection of local brew.
The #1 place in noho for tinder/okcupid dates (phenomenal people watching)

Great food, good coffee, and great beer, but their Wi-Fi and bathroom policies, while perhaps good business, are exclusionary. They shut off wifi during their busy hours, and have combination locks on their bathrooms to require purchase for access. These policies are all within their rights to establish, but butt up against a philosophical difference in the idea that local coffeeshops should be cetera for improving the greater community and culture, not merely catering to their own customers.
Even as a customer. I have felt unwelcome because of the implication that I need be spending enough money to be worth their bathrooms or wifi. Customers may be a commodity, but it's important that we don't feel that way due to policy decisions.
With open community wifi and bathrooms that don't discriminate against the local homeless population I'd have rated 5 stars hands down, but between feeling like I have to prove my value, and occasionally unexpectedly being unable to leverage wifi that I had specifically patronized so as to access, I have to say that I avoid The Roost these days, when it's convenient to do so.

Excellent coffee. Delicious desserts. The individual Lemon Meringue pie is out of this world. Staff is attentive and friendly. Love this place.
